I do like the concept of that mission.

I see the problem. It seems like the AI planes have become way better and therefor this mission has become impossibile. I´ll unlist this mission and maybe fix it later.

And: CIWIS can be confused if it has too many targets on its radar and then just doesnt engage at all.

I just tried again, and I can get the first wave of bombers down fairly reliably, but with the second one my CIWS just refuses to fire at them at all? Thanks for the quick reply and advice, but I still don't see how to beat this.

I didnt get any kills with the secondaries. Only the CIWS took some down, but that was more luck than anything due to the low range. And in the end it still wasnt enough. ¯\_(ツ)_/¯

I havent played it for quite a while, but what I did was firing with the secondarys on the formations of planes with bombs, completely ignoring the ones with missiles. It didnt stop the Iowa from loosing her guns, but I at least was able to survive. I may try it again later, they may have changed the AI a bit.

Do you have a video of how you beat the mission? Or can you at least offer a strat? I dont see how it is possible, since all it takes is one bomb hit to cripple ALL weapons.

Yeah, hope the campaign is going to be like that, would be very cool.

I mean in the sense of accomplishment. Doing a mission like this in a dynamic campaign would feel amazing, seeing how saving that asset would affect a future battle and all that.

You should send 75 anti-ship missile against the Iowa from the start just to make it a bit easier

That was the plan. The planes aren't supposed to sink you, just damage you so badly that the subsequent ship battle becomes more exciting. And if you do it right, you can destroy most of the planes.

Badly designed. Way too many air threats you can't counter. By 5 minutes in you're completely defenseless and just sitting there steaming, They cant sink you because... battleship but you cant fight back. Needs work.
