I can't tell you how many times I left a comment on someone's mod reporting an issue and then found out the actual cause had nothing to do with it like 30 minutes later

Whoops. I realized it was a ragdoll mod that causes lag spikes. This mod is fine

it might actually just be because the particle effect is fairly dense. There are a LOT of particles coming out at once. However, they don't collide with anything like all those other fancy blood mods do, because that absolutely destroys the source engine. So for lower end systems it's probably a heavier thing to run (it could definitely lag on high end systems if someone set up a huge battle too.)

this mod is great, it combines the 2004 HL2 particle visuals with modern HL2's particle visibility, it works in HL2 too, which makes me ask
will you reupload this to HL2 workshop, and if not, can you give permission for me to do so?

Yeah blood mods that just replace blood_impact.pcf can be a pain the ass sometimes. I wish they just worked but for some people, for some reason, they often just don't

I actually did mess with the variable that controls lighting, it's called tint_perc or something. Unfortunately making the light affect the blood a decent bit also meant that bright lights would affect it, and the blood ended up being bright pink under bright enough lights which looked stupid, so I decided to lower the effect of light on it.

hey, could you perhaps be able to make the particles react to the lighting surrounding it?
an example of these is:
old engine blood particles and enhanced blood particles ? i just think the blood is too bright sometimes
