Okay, maybe not thought out. But Portal 2 introduced the vgui display, which allows for prerendered video on monitors. Like the videos on the walls of the elevators. No idea if that has been backported to Half-Life 2 in subsequent engine updates. You could hypothetically recreate the animations in SFM and then project it behind the monitor.
