and also I try to recreate the move and setting to the E3 Demo and I did recorded it, but I still need to work on playing on mouse & keyboard still. but I did managed to play it with Controller? just needed to aim down and that.
but overall I must say thanks for bringing something awesome for me to try out, and my gratitude to the Modding community and to the Bungie devs and more.
But again thank you.
Thank you to the people who helped bring this back from the DEAD , as a child i saw this video alot but never got to play it , just kinda excepted i missed this part of halos history
being able to play this is huge thanks again !
Obviously, if this interpretation of New Mombasa had made it into Halo 2 it would have been a fully functional mission. This is a sequence of scripted events. Bungie had to get something ready for E3 and didn't need to do more than what was necessary for a few minutes of gameplay.
I'm not sure why Bungie decided against the original New Mombasa but I'd guess after they had to scrap the original engine and all they made for it, by the time they got to New Mombasa in the story, they simply thought a daytime approach would be better. Maybe that's something to do with the Scarab, who knows.
Regardless, Halo 2 was rushed and we ended up getting a half-finished and unbalanced sequel.
I can't say how much I appreciate this.
Thank you.
It's a shame how this situation has turned out, but it was a good thing that this team dedicated to getting this work done. It might seem trivial, but to some of us it's grand.
I try to explain to some of these younger guys upset with 343, that Halo went off course starting with Halo 2. Great game, but it just wasn't the direction things were supposed to go in.
This demo, now playable, is like an artifact of this time back then. When most of Halo was in a state of potential, and it was beautiful.
There's a certain vibe, a strong undercurrent of feeling, present in the style of this version of New Mombasa. I could get long-winded on that alone, but IYKYK. It was a special vision of a futuristic sci-fi world that we never really got, from 343 OR Bungie.
It seems the whole world went down the wrong path at this same time.
This was important work. Never forget that. Thank you.
"Halo, it's finished"
"No, I think we're just getting started."
What you brought to the Halo community was fantastic. Thank you and good luck with whatever you guys do after this. Hopefully it'll be much more lucrative, fulfilling, and less painful than what you had to go through.
Microsoft doesn't know a good thing if it hit them in the face.
