@finnr you're absolutely right, the lineNumber variable actually the variable the game assigns as the line id into the line itself, the count does not exist, I'll be correcting the documentation according to that.

I'm a bit confused about new "lineNumber" vs the old "Count".
Above it says:
[Transport Type] - [(Cargo Types)]: [First Town Initials] - [Last Town Initials] [Line Type] #[Count]
Then later:
{transportType} {cargoTypes}-{townNames}-{lineType}-{lineNumber}
Sp, is lineNumber and count 2 different input types? Because lineNumber does not behave as before the update.
Ingame "lineNumber" is a 6 number suffix, not the same as "count" which used to disambiguate duplicate names.
An example:
{transportType} (#{lineNumber}) {cargoTypes}-{townNames} outputs "Bus (#389321) Pas-Cop".
It should output: "Bus (#1) Pas-Cop
Does it make sense?

@finnr, hmm I see the issue, I never tried it out with adv. stats, there can be a future update about that, or the settings button position can be changed. Thanks for the feedback!

@CptAmerica, there is a settings GUI now, and you can enable - disable mod or auto renaming function. Please try it out and LMK :)

Update! The [ALN] wasn't showing because I have the Adv. stats mod installed, spamming the entire gamebar. Name formatting is now easier to change. Thanks

Have been using this mod for a while now, but yesterday it suddenly "broke". It renames, but add dashes and numbers, and the general style convention is gone.

is it possible to disable the mod? it's kind of ruined the game. all my lines are now renamed. the mod didnt work until today. that's why i never noticed. but now all lines have ridiculous names and when i change them they switch back to auto name

This a great! I looked at your script code and it is excellent. Thanks for including comments! I was looking at the code to see if I could find where the the names come from. The reason is, I changed the name of a station and even after an "r" it did not see the change..Looking at the code, it appears that the end points come from city names, not the station names. I wouldn't know how to fix it but, would it be possible to use station names instead? Regardless, thanks for a great mod!

Jo Mr. Devman. I fiddled around a bit and added automatic renaming support for other languages. Before the localized names weren't recognized.
I issued a merge request on the git, if you want to offiially add it. :)

Used this for some games, works fine, but it needs some manual renames. I used "r" multiple times to force reload yet there were some issues with the cargo naming.

But i loved this mod. Thanks for your hard work. :steamthumbsup:

When assigning new vehicles to a new line, the vehicle manager seems to switch focus from the specific depot to "all". I'm assuming this is a result of the line's name being changed and the manager refreshing or something like that. Is there any chance this behavior could be prevented, and focus remains on the depot?

This is especially annoying when there are still more new vehicles to assign, and you need to go back down to the depot in the list - or as in my case you don't realize it did this and you think you still have the depot selected and then you accidentally reassign vehicles between lines!

Is it just me or is there an issue with the cargo type naming? For me it always says (Logs) no matter what I'm transporting

Great mod, any chance at a mass rename function? Manually renaming lines gets time consuming after awhile.

Very handy, thanks a lot! Perhaps a handy addition would be that vehicles on a line get named by type eg: "40 Ton Truck 001" so that they can be searched and replaced easily when upgrading the network.

@Karlos, I actually done most of the work for customization and gui stuff, and currently getting to the end, you can actually see the progress from github repo. It will be possible soon, I'm just testing and will be publishing the new version soon.

This mod is great and definitely very useful.

I do wish there was some way to change the naming conventions because I have multiple towns that start with the same 3 letters and I can't differentiate between them - using the full town names might solve this issue. I also generally use my own Transport Type Abbreviations that don't exactly match with yours so it took some getting used to, maybe that could be a future in a later mod update :D

Hey @Noreuh, I couldn't reproduce the issue, with a new save or an old one. Can you make sure that your game crashes because of this mod? Preferably by sending a crash dump. Or can you be more spesific about what type of cargo or line you're trying to rename.

@compispider not for now, but will add i18n to the mod, also when a gui added to the mod, you will be able to customize names whatever you like.

Does the mod adapt to my game language?
I use German names e.g. Holz(LKW) or RB (Regionalbahn) for my connections.

I run a lot of mixed freight so a question: Is the cargo names fixed by the game or is there a way to shorten them? e.g. Construction materials to Con Mat or Bricks even? TC: (Stone, Construction Materials, Logs, Packaging material, Food) BED LO gets a bit long for mixed freight. I know I can manually shorten them, but I might as well just name them in that case.

I've been doing it myself up until now.
But it's confusing. Organizing the lines. I'm sure this MOD was created by a train enthusiast with many years of experience, and is better than my own ideas, so I'll use it. Thank you.
