It had the rudder going the opposite way when you turned, but there was very much a sloop already in the mod

Have you tried to toggle off the "wind" option? Otherwise it runs a script which makes the ships ignore the vehicle.txt.
And why do you need thay? Do you run a server?

@tntanton they do work? spawn them from their tab in the Q menu

How would you put these into a cardealer script, so players can spawn them? I have tried, but they dont count as vehicles so they dont seem to work.

Hey, i noticed that the compass / wind direction appeared again, and its stuck on every single enter-able vehicle in the game, even the default hl2 ones, is there any way to make it only work on the ships?
