Publishment in those websites is free and can give you more feedback than steam for early developments. Besides itch.io has an option of "pay what you think it deserves" feature really usefull on smoll creators.
I could also advise you to try a game jam event at least once. You can learn and impruve exponentially compared to solo directionless creation. And can help garantee that you finish a game AND that somebody else will play it.
(You can find many gamejams on itch.io rangeing from time and size of the game)
