THE CAVE DWELLER

*spooky breathing occurs* *zooms camera out* *game crashes*

the combination of the somewhat quiet but unmistakably unnatural sounds of og cave dweller, the color fading from the area when it makes its presence known, and seeing a copy of yourself in a different spot while it breathes heavily, as if anticipating having the chance to lunge at and attack prey

admittedly somewhat unsettling, almost gives hollow knight vibes (if you know you know)

Hottest monster I've ever seen, but you should give it a super-jump like the biome mimics get so you can't just ignore it with a grappling hook and 15 seconds of extra free time. Also maybe add a couple minutes cooldown after it's chased you. Also longer chases, please.

kinda lame that the buildup ambient sounds are just copied from the cave dweller tho

if possible, i think it should slow down the music instead of muting it

had an encounter with it while making my crabulon arena.

mimic threw itself into water while I was making my hellevator, which is pretty funny. good mod aside from that though, I just recommend anyone playing lower the spawnrate of it

The "Creature" disapeers too quickly. Nerf it so you can actualy kill it when you find it. (Please)

like, make the hair of the doll item match if possible and it's a solid 10/10

help I tossed my voodoo doll in the shimmer in multiplayer and said "now I will have shimmer powers" and nothing happened can you make something cool happen?? otherwise 9/10, voodoo doll looks nothing like me

7.8/10, too disruptive. I'd recommend going for more of a "Cave Dweller" approach, where it doesn't cut off music and you have to listen close to hear it. Also make it rare, like a Nymph, but without being sensed by the Lifeform Analyzer.

i install this mod in my calamity+flamrthrowers modpack and tottaly forgot.I was scared to death when i see ME in the cave(and i have a NOSK flashbacks).My opinion,very very scary mod

That's an actually interesting take of the Minecraft Cave Dweller trope, I like it. Although I feel like it'd be better to let it put itself into the game more subtly, doing things like using generic horror sounds and cutting out the music makes it too obvious. If it's meant to mimic a player, then it should play into that by doing things that feel almost player-like, but not exactly. Maybe making the echoes of a pickaxe mining in the distance, or having a gravestone saying the player died somewhere where they didn't, and not stating what "killed" them.

Although maybe that'd be better as its own standalone mod, while this stayed as a more faithful recreation of its source. Idk, I'm just spitballing ideas here, still a pretty cool mod.

finally, horror mod

Make its stats adjust to your current progression, for example the health and damage is normal until you defeat all 3 mechanical bosses and then after that for every boss it gets stronger and stronger so that you cant just nuke it in late game, you have to have a fair fight

mr plagues races support is actually coming in an undefined amount of time, dont worry

I think the mod is great, definitely more scary in pre hardmode and early hardmode since late game u can just nuke him.

It's sad that it doesn't really work well with any of the mr plagues race mods but I get that would probably be difficult to implement.

Regardless it's a well made mod, nothing crazy just a fun thing to try out in one of your playthroughs
