But I got you
In survival, I removed the two center engines and installed Prototech thrusters in their place by using the advanced welding/attach mod, but this could be done with vanilla merge blocks too. It was very cool using space tugs to slide the upgraded engines into place like a proper scifi shipyard. I also replaced the jump drives with captured prototech jump drives. These were harder to fit, but I managed to make them work.
There is just one problem with this area that could complicate even the normal design.
Those two middle engines are a weak spot. Taking them out knocks out connections to the upper and lower engines. You also use of the connectors on the outside of the engines. I learned this when replacing the engines. Fortunately you left lots of space for redundant piping, which I installed to resolve this.
I suggest you add more redundant pipes for this area of the center two engines.
