Now that XL Hydrogen, XL Ion, XL Warfare (Modular), and XL Prototech thrusters have been made (by various mod authors), it would be great if all these capital class thrusters were combined into one mod. I especially would like to see this combined with Tiered Tech to bring the number of thrusters needed to move a capital ship to a reasonable number. One can dream.

Only the vanilla ones have it. The dlc thrusters will only show particles when being actively used

I considered calculating the total space/volume but Keen doesn’t do this so I didn’t either. Though if anyone wants to make a edited version of this mod idc just give credit

I mean ya not everything is about numbers and this mod definitely has a place even now. Having upscaled engines can be used for the looks but I don't see a practical reason to use them outside of looks

Using modded thrusters with more power than you are meant to have for the volume used is kinda cheating tbh. I also want more vanilla balance when it comes to this but the 33% difference you quote earlier comes only from calculating the outer surface area used and that's sort of an unfair way to balance it since there still is a space behind it not being used. The difference between keens 3x3 and using 1x1s in the same volume is actually a 2.7x difference compared to the 9x9 being at a 4.5x difference not counting mass. Wouldn't it be more fair to bring it more in line with the 2.7x difference because firstly that's the actual keen numbers seeing as you are trading redundancy, mobility, and potentially distance traveled you should really get something for it?

I’d like for this to be in line with how Keen handles its thrusters. Not everything is about numbers and you can still have a thruster wall and cap it off with something like a 9x9 for looks. There are plenty of powerful modded thrusters out there if you’d rather use those

in the base game if you stack 1x1 thrusters in a 3x3 space they don't interfere with each other because 1x1 thrusters only need 2 spaces of empty space to not damage each other. Using a build like this creates the 19.44 thrust to 7.2 comparison I used before and this number gets even more out of control when you up the scale like with a 9x9 which gets 262.44 thrust vs this modded engine which has 58.32 which is 4.5x difference in thrust not 33% difference. Basically what I'm asking here is why use these thrusters when the thrust gain is so large that you can sacrifice some of that 4.5x thrust increase for tanks to combat the efficiency loss?

I don't understand the question. I'm just pointing out that for the same volume of space used in a 9x9 you can get way more than 33% thrust increase and that the thrust increase is so much more that you can afford to combat the efficiency loss by using tanks instead of thrusters and still have a thrust increase. You can use 1x1s behind a 9x9 but I mean that's no longer in the same volume of space so it's irrelevant and also any build using something like that would be truly gargantuan in size.

Could also fill the interior space with tanks to combat the efficiency loss while keeping the thrust increase for best of both worlds. This is already sort of an issue with the base game where 3x3 engines are sort of just bad and the issues gets even worse in a larger scale

This is interesting but the power difference between 1x1 and 3x3 is already pretty massive and that just gets even more noticeable if you fill in interior space that you would otherwise use with larger engines like this with small engines. Example 1x1 even with a flat plane is 9.62 thrust compared to 3x3 which is 7.2 but if you fill in the volume it's 19.44 vs 7.2 and that's not taking into consideration sideways thrust you can get from the empty space in between meaning you are also more mobile. At 9x9 this becomes 58.32 compared to 262.44 and once again there can be thrust in other directions using the empty space. It's really hard to argue for efficiency when the thrust difference is this much specially since mobility is king in pvp.

Do you need the thruster visuals? Im using recolorable thrusters, so I'm pretty sure its not compatible.

I understand the scope of this mod. I just hope someone will pick up where this mod ends and include similar sizes of Warfare 2 ion thrusters, the best looking thrusters in the game.

They should only work on the 3x3 and 9x9. Side ports were removed from the 5x5 and 7x7 due to uneven scaling.
