Do you plan to unite all 4 mods under one or do you plan to continue ?
- a "last resort" unit for the Ikko-Ikki - for when they were attacked by Oda and his armies, they would surely often resort to "Last Stand" like charges - so basically glass cannon units that are killed off easily by archers, however if they reach the enemy lines, they wreak havoc like nothing else? Maybe make them even unwaverable to show that they fight to the last man? And maybe make them even mixed, to show that male and female followers fought side by side?
- a Uesugi hybrd monk unit, maybe a bow Samurai that can also wield a Naginata to somewhat use both defensive as offensive - as at the 4th battle of Kawanakajima, Kenshin surprised Takeda Shingen with his out of the blue attack
- a Takeda hybrid cavalry, that can also dismount and fight like a regular infantry unit - maybe to the full strength of a infantry unit - historically, the Takeda were not the cav-"Civ" they are portrayed as in the game, instead, they used their cavalry like Europeans used dragoons, as mounted infantry. This fact would be better represented by swift units that are able to ride to the designated spot you want to use them - so maybe give them little armor, but high attack stats?

- a Shimazu Ojutsu hero, as the wikipedia article of Niiro Tadamoto, a famous Shimazu retainer, literally has him fire one
https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Niiro_Tadamoto
- some unit to commemorate Akechi Mitsuhide's betrayal - maybe a special fire bomb hero for the Oda?
- a special cav unit for the Date, maybe well armored, called "Date dragon riders" as Date Masamune was known as the one eyed dragon?
I'll surely find some further ideas in the next days - please note that those are merely ideas, please do not feel forced to consider any of them!
- Takeda slingers- there is a battle, although I do not remember which one, where Takeda used his Ashigaru to fire slingshots at the enemy to harass them and force them to attack. I think they were called Mizumata - I do not know if this is doable in the game, although we also got the fire bombers - maybe use their animations?
- Tokugawa gunners - for their participation in the battle of Nagashino, maybe they could use stakes from the get go?
- Tokugawa should also have a unit with Honda Tadakatus, after we already got Ii Naomasa ;-)
- As there is no reference to Toyotomi Hideyoshi, I think the Oda should also get a special unit in remembrance to thim - most fitting, a special "Long-Yari" samurai unit maybe?
- Shimazu Bow Heroes - Shimazu Yoshihiro was laughed at when he turned up at Sekigahara with his bow in hand, that would be a good hommage
- Date "golden/glittering beach storners" - during the Imjin-Invasion, Date Masamune sent a guard unit of his army, all clad in yellow/golden armor and with the "pointy" kabutos like Kato Kiyomasa wears
- Takeda female/"maiden" Yabusame-cav like in the movie "heaven and earth"
- Chosokabe defenders - a Naginata-Unit with enhanced stats, as the Chosokabe defended Shikoku when Toyotomi went out to conquer them
1. Bow Ninja - can fire while hidden, kisho training, weak armor & above average melee stats.
2. Portuguese Pikemen - Exclusive to the Otomo, high armor but low melee defence
3. Bow Ronin Cavalry - Exclusive to the Ikko-Ikki, Better bow cavalry
i can't think of two more units, so feel free to suggest the rest.
