And X looks like straight lightning while grounded and acts like it is dispersed lightning while flying.

It was the Mimicry key on the UI (Left Alt for me) to fly, I think it's because of remapping. I didn't find any other keys.

For me C doesn't fly, X shoots a lightning beam while grounded and left click claws with the left wing while grounded, will update if I figure out the keys.

I do like this mod. The beast has some remarkable capabilities. It is a great reward for defeating that boss!

While trying all kinds of things, something (some combination?) made it shoot lightning ... what key?
At another instance I killed everything around me in a wide area, but I don't know how I did that. Was it the landing itself that caused it? Did I dive down? If so, how do I make that happen?
