Small Update:
>Fixed bug with Survivor's Guilt. Very rarely could cause the game to freak out.

@The Sorting Helmet, I'll think about this. I plan on doing another update later that will add Medical Histories, which will be quirks styled after amazing individuals in the medical field. I may also add some more Medical Studies. But, when I'm doing all that, I'll try to think about how to mitigate/rework his downsides.

Given them a third try even with some of the newer modes added. The downsides of stress taken and buffin' enemy crits is just too punishing for what its achieving. One bad round and just from one stress stack debuff, the enemy is hitting for 1.5x their damage and an upward of 35 stress.

1. I downloaded translation patch. I tested it. It runs fine for me. Hero sheet and guild screen are good.
2. I do not see others reporting this issue on translation patch.
3. This is probably a compatibility issue. Please try reorganizing mods. Place Trench Doctor higher in order. I hope that helps.

To elaborate, the issue occurs both in the hero sheet and the guild screen. I can read tooltips for his other skills just fine.

I have been using this hero before the most recent update and everything works fine. But now whenever I try mousing over the Trench Hero skill, no tooltip show up and the game just freezes and then crashes to desktop. I have tried disabling the Chinese translation mod for this one but it didn't solve the issue, and I have had so many mods on the save file it's difficult to pin down what other things might be causing this on my end, if it is. Any possible fixes for this?

@FiendTheBarrel, His Move skill has been replaced by another one called "Oath and Duty." I gave it a unique icon. Moves him forward and changes his mode.

After discovering a bug in my other mod, I went ahead and updated this one as well:
Got rid of Red Grim's death rattle (destress and horror clear) due to bug.
->I will try to find a replacement, but I want to fix the error first.

Lowered Red Grim spawn rate from 33% to 10%.

Slightly lowered HP of Specter on Veteran and significantly on Champion tier.
Increased Specter's resistance to Bleed and Blight cause ghost.

This is very cool but it seems a bit, overthought? Like for example the Jester has dirk stab as a fallback skill if you don't meet the conditions for his weird conditional stuff. This seems to lack just a basic minimally risky proactive skill to use early on before the fight develops / when you've lost a fighter or two and just need some straightforward dps. The custom quirks are cool and the idea of the medical studies are super unique and something I'd love to see more of.

@leopoldo405 I added Spanish and Brazilian support to the mod. The dialog is not translated; however, you should not see blue text anymore.

To answer your other question. I will think about making a patch to tweak "Back Off!" to allow it to be more of an attack. However, thematically the character is not a fighter. This is even reflected in the low ACC of "Back Off!" The character's healing and buffing are also balanced around his lack of offensive abilities.

on the other side, i think this class really need a abilitie he can use for basic atack, because a class without a attack feel like enter a mission with 3 heroes. in my opinion this is a good change for the character, thank for reading

@bigdog111111, That's an interesting question. I think it depends on how you want to use the Doctor. Here's a few examples:
>Healer- If you want your Doctor to focus solely on healing, then using "Breath it in" for the quest long buff will benefit you.
>Tank Buffer- Putting your tank in position 1, buffing with "Trench Hero," and then hitting the enemy with "Overdose" can utilize the tank's buffed Dodge, while also making the most of their Riposte, if active.
>Speed Manipulation- If you have a team of speedy characters, then you can use "Overdose" to get bonus damage on the enemy before they act; or, you can use "Fastball Special" to engineer a Speed advantage.
>Bleed/Blight Team- Not only can the Doctor's healing help sustain the party through a longer DoT fight, you can also use "Vile Injection" to open up a tough enemy to DoTs.

I started a new play through to try out new mods today and when trying this guy all of his moves had pretty scary catches that made me feel like they weren't safe to use. What is my main proactive action supposed to be with this guy?

@ZealotR, First, thank you for playing the mod. Now, to address your points:
>I double checked, there is a limit of 1 instance to the Red Grim per rank, per quest. Meaning, either you had two Trench Doctors, or evolved the quirk and then fought the subsequent difficulty.
>The baggage is part of the character's balance. It's because of his brokenness/trauma that he pushes himself to do so much. That said, you raise a valid point about the howl. I feel that annoyance myself. I may revisit and expand Red Grim's skillset to be more unique in the future. I currently have a few other mods in development though.
>The Trench Doctor's affliction isn't entirely negative. It boosts his healing done, while debuffing his healing received. So, even if he became afflicted, you'd still have some benefit.

It might have just been me but I encountered two Red Grim fights in the same dungeon only a room apart, and it really soured my mood regarding this mod.
I love WW1, and I want more medically inclined classes, but god damn does he have some baggage that makes him detrimental to my gameplay experience by merely existing in my party.

The ghoul miniboss is irritating, especially when they use howl twice in a round.

I'll be honest, the Trench Doctor's 'Breathe it In" skill is the best cross-party heal for medium to long-length quests, as it can snowball with the 5% increased healing that lasts until the end of the quest.

However, the PTSD events are some of the most annoying fights to deal with in the game. It might just be me but I care little for the plot the character has, and they're a liability in every run they're sent on because of their PTSD.
They're always virtuous, thankfully, so the fight is a bit more manageable. I would've uninstalled the mod if they were only getting afflictions.

@Stitches, By default, he has a 60% Affliction chance and a 40% Virtue chance.

That said, his Affliction is not a complete negative. It boosts his healing done, while debuffing his healing received. Thus, if you can keep him safe, it may be better for a pure heal build to have him Afflicted.

lol, love that word. Anyways, if you're having a rough time with the stress, consider the Priorities trinket to asset with mitigation; and, when doing the miniboss, have your Trench Doctor's companions kill the ghost. The affliction they get, Psychosis, helps with stress/Affliction builds.

@blue the kobold, No, sir, I'm sorry if I caused you any stress. I play with the offline launcher so I can constantly backup my save with a few clicks; so, I understand the dread of losing a save.

Since your previous comment I have updated the mod. The offending effect is gone, as another person running into your issue confirmed. The update also added/balanced a few things.

Thank you for following up, and I do appreciate your empathy. I hope you continue to enjoy the Trench Doctor, though if you don't want to, I understand.

to the creater iv not ran into the bug agin , luckly a freind helped me save my file , im runing no overhall mod other the sunword , other then that im just using charicter mods , it just locked up with him loop healing , but after some diging it may have been a memory leek on my end , sorry if iv cussed you any stress

@JR LT KNERTEN, Are you still running into the this bug after the update? Try unsubscribing and re-subscribing to force the update.

If the problem still persists, then here's a questions:
Are you referring to the double heal of his "Keep Going" skill? Or, are you possibly referring to one of his bonus heals when Valorous? (Before the patch removed these, he could heal after being hit or on turn start.)

@ManOfGod413 I didn't have a partywipe thankfully. Only my Homunculus died. I was running a Leper, Mafe-refactor Homunculus, and Plague Doctor comp with the Trench Doctor. I was going for a hypercarry run with Embodening Vapors and Fastball Special combo when the Red Grim came in to ruin my day. Survived by the skin of my teeth with some crucial guards from the Homunculus. 3 out of four of my guys had afflicted as well.

I was lucky but I think it's a pretty good testament to how powerful the boss encounter is if you're unprepared and below in levels.

@Freed, Thank you for the confirmation! And, truly, thank you for the patience. I didn't run into this issue when testing; however, I'll try to take a closer look at it in the future to see what went wrong.

And, just out of curiosity, what was the team you lost to Red Grim? Did they die to stress or damage? And, you are right, you can technically start the Red Grim quest at Champion level and just breeze through the first 2 fights.

@Freed, @JR LT KNERTEN, Since multiple people are reporting this bug, I went ahead and pushed an update. Hopefully the offending line is gone now. Tell me if you're still running into the problem, please.

Also, minor miniboss tweak. I changed Red Grim's aggro heal from 15% to 10%. This should help make him easier to kill.

Hey there. Awesome mod! I think people should consider adding this guy as a later addition to estates since it's a massive pain to have your Lvl. 1 & 2's die to a sudden ghoul run-in.

Also, my file is completely frozen due to a loop caused by his virtue animations/programming? Like his act-out happens and the screen freezes. Like nothing can be selected to get to the next turn (skills, provisions, nada).

Would love to get some help for this one since I'd hate to lose my current save.
