That being said, it makes even less sense how vanilla works. But then again, it's just a game. If we wanted more realism, caves/underground bases would never get above 55 degrees Fahrenheit and the roof would impact heat distribution.
if you want serious insulation, you build only 1 tile thick walls, but then have 1 row empty and then another 1 tile wall. that's how insulation works irl and so it does ingame. if you add another layer with this mechanic, you will have about 0 heat exchange. that being said, ofc it's space-demanding, but "wall-to-wall" structures aren't supposed to isolate.
And yeah like others said, 2 thick walls do insulate better in vanilla but not any thicker, which I assume this mod changes. It's just this mod's wording is a bit misleading, so no none of you are going crazy.
So much material wasted in previous runs...
Finally this has been addressed but as @Z Catto! said, I thought for a long time that this was base game mechanics and could never figure why freezer rooms were so hard to keep cold.
would there be insulation happening and then basically break as soon as the area is uncovered?
