You can do that yourself. Go to the config file created in Necesse's install folder. Inside the "settings" folder, you'll see another folder named "bettertorch".

Change the light level from the default 300 to something higher. You can change the color too.

Would you consider making an even better, better torch? I'd love it if it were much stronger. Don't get me wrong, placing this torch every 10 tiles is better than placing the original torches every 3. If you made a really OP version that we could set down every 30-50 tiles. That would just be the bees knees.

doesnt work in multiplayer, friend cant join, cause server is missing mod

i think there is a bug, sometimes the mounted torch isn't working. (like on fence)

have to reload all mods or replace it to get it working again.

but after saving+loading again, it will be broken.

@iicycube I'm note sure bc I don't play multiplayer, but search for settings.cfg and you should find it in the server files somewhere. In singleplayer they are at <steam game folder>/ settings/bettertorch/settings.cfg

@Torinux Now with 1.0 the modding scene tends to be more stable, so I intend to add new features in the future. First I'm planning to add other light sources, like Better Street Lamp.
About placing them on walls seems interesting, but I'll need to study the modding tools limitatations first

I wonder if you can make the better torch able to be placed on walls. Or is it a mod limitation? It would be even better if that was possible.

I think the mod is working fine with 1.0, but I'll be updating it anyway in the weekend. Feel free to report any bugs with 1.0 as it will help me improve the mod further :D

I'm playing on 1.0 in a new world with a new character, the better torch shows up in the bench, can be crafted, and still seems to illuminate the same. So seems the mod doesn't need to be updated? (unless you did it already).

Hey, for those who still use my mods, I'll be updating them soon, before 1.0 launches, and I plan to update them to 1.0 when it launches.


I don't have that much free time to keep updating my mods, I'm very sorry for that, I did this mods because I wanted these features in my own playtroughs, so now that I almost not play Necesse I don't invest much time updating them.
Also if you know how to code and want to improve or update the mod, just do a pull request on the mod git page and I'll take a look :D

Does it only effect the visual light raduis? Does it actually stop monsters from spawning so I don't have to use a torch every 4 feet?

Could you make a version of this that just replaces the light of the regular torch to be better (without the added recipe or extra cost)?

For Those having the multiplayer cannot craft issue like ive seen @TheGrimLeo report a while ago.. Make sure to leave the config settings to default, which is Light = 300 and recipe to MEDIUM

Would it be possible for you to make the light multiplier also apply to the Explorer Satchel?

@TheGrimLeo this is will happen for all mods, your friend needs to also have the mod, of it's a dedicated server the server needs the mod. I'll not enter in specifics, as it is a thing for all mods, but if you fo the first comments here, there is one explaining how your friend can configure his server so you can use the mod.

Issue, When mod is on and I join on friends world, I'm not longer able to craft items. Worked when removed. Issue happened again when I reinstalled. Good Solo mod otherwise.
P.S. no other mods were installed when this was installed.

I would imagine that people playing together would need the same mod list. I usually snap a pic of my mod list and share it with anyone I want to play with to avoid missing files and conflicts.

@mcmiky3332210 I personally play only singleplayer, so I have not tested with self hosting with a friend, but I believe that if both of you have the mod it should work. Also if you are running it on a dedicated server you will need to add the JAR file to the server mods, it's available above and @Rand explained how to do it on a comment below.

a freind and i wanted to use this mod and it wouldnt let him join infect it showed up as an missing mod when he tried joining and as a bunch of question marks and text.

@Silver weird, since it's the first report like this I assume that it's something on your side, maybe a conflict with other mods? Did you tried to run it with no other mods? Maybe share your modlist?

Somehow this mod doesn't work for me. Once installed, I can't craft anything at any crafting desks.

@Zanklev™ I don't actually know, I tried a bunch of different configs and was not able to actually reproduce the vanilla color balance, that's why the colors are in the configs, so you can make them the way that you want. On my game I use this only on caves mostly, on the my settlement I use the vanilla lightning Streetlamps on the streets an Candelabra on the insides, but if some future reader finds the cfgs for the vanilla colors I can add as some sort of pre-made config in the cfg file :)

@Sonnes No, mod's don't usually disable achievements, mine don't, but I can't make promises for other mods.

Thank you for making this! the reason I quit before was the extreme darkness~ this makes the game 100x more enjoyable.

@Rand I did not know that you needed that for servers, I published as a release here [github.com], please tell me if it worked for you guys, if it didn't I'll talk to more experienced modders to help me :)
