Can we please do away with the stamina meter (and the obnoxious elitism surrounding it)? It clashes hard with how rivals plays.

i've found a fix for people who don't like the stamina system! (ya buncha babies)

i personally like how this character well represents the difficulty of soulsborn games, but this is rivals. so using this buddy, you can play this character the way you (and no one else) intended!

Apparently, this guy has a ladder combo, at least on certain characters.
D-Air D-Air D-Air D-Air until they're in U-Air range. Kills off the top pretty consistently.
I found this out while fighting Bowser (https://psteamcommunity.yuanyoumao.com/sharedfiles/filedetails/?id=2962798543 ).

@VVizard Could this character be made compatible with the Aether Runes?
That way you could make many adjustments interchangeable for ppl who want different things.
I also mention this so that when ppl want to play with less balanced characters this character can be beefed up with the right runes selected.
Sorry if that's a lot to read/ask for. I would be willing to commission if that would make it worth it. :bonfire2:

We already made the stamina consumption less severe a couple patches ago, is that still an issue? We can't remove the stamina meter, but we could make it a bit less severe if needed

As much as I love this character, the stamina bar is rather frustrating. While I do understand that this character is not intended to be purely a rushdown character and you're more intended to punish the opponent with parries or create openings with superarmor, the fact that the moves eat up so much and the dodge roll requiring stamina feels like a bit too much. Trying to handle more aggressive characters such as Clairen is near impossible. There are moments where I can't recover properly due to low stamina, and trying to play defensively when most if not all of my defensive options are locked behind a tight resource makes some matchups unwinnable.

@Tom_Shades If this was the case along with Abyss Runes adding two-handed the sword with a few of Reynald’s moves (Including a limited-use Holy Water/Flask ability) this would be one of the peak RoA mods

It's really cool and feels like a knight, but the Neutral special is very easy to spam and fit into combos since you can pre-charge multiple

Alright we've heard all of your guys feedback, we added the stamina mechanic to mirror the Dark Souls design of not rushing through or spamming attacks, but perhaps we went a bit too far on its implementation, we'll be looking into ways of perhaps making it less punishing while still keeping it true to that Dark Souls feeling

I haven't played much of this game, or used the Chosen Undead very much, but it's pretty obvious that the current stamina setup doesn't match the game. If the opponent is persistently aggressive, there simply isn't a good way to regenerate stamina. I think it would help if the regeneration delay was shortened greatly and if running only slowed stamina regen instead of completely stopping it. This isn't Dark Souls, you can't just back off. I do love the defensive playstyle and focus on staying grounded, air combat just isn't my style.

Dark Souls is my favorite game-- which is why I am saying,please buff the stamina bar lol.
It feels like it is Soul Level 1 Stamina maybe add the chloranthy ring effect as a skin aswell, because that is the most iconic effect I've personally seen in Ds1 lol

I love the character however I could suggest buffing his back air and up special killing power because they can't kill until much later around 140% which makes the character feel a little weak compared to the other characters. He struggles to kill.

I will say that in terms of making a hard to play as character Chosen Undead certainly succeeds.

That being said in being a replication of Dark Souls... Good luck if your opponent has super speed. Because they will probably intercept all your attacks.

I do think his strongs could buffed as a consequence of depleting stamina but if the stamina cost of things is getting reworked maybe that isn't needed.

I like the character a lot but I do think he needs to be buffed.

Thanks a lot for the comments everyone, we're really happy you have all been enjoying the character!

Now as for the Stamina stuff, we designed it to encourage players to use their more powerful attacks sparingly, like in Dark Souls, you can't jump spam attacks, but we'll keep an eye out on more feedback and see if perhaps we can tone it down for some stamina consuming actions.

Also @Mafia_Mango a little something the character has we forgot to mention, but if you Taunt, it restores your stamina! Give that a try

Overall, I still love this character, & all of the work that went into its creation. At the end of the day, my criticisms come from a place of care & investment. This isn't a character that makes me what to stop playing it, it's a character that I love with flaws that make me wish it was perfect. Regardless, keep of the good work, & I can't wait to see what all of you make next.:steamthumbsup:

Option 1: Move the back stab ability to Down N, replacing the low shield parry. In the Down Special slot, give the Chosen Undead an Estus Flask that fully replenishes their stamina. This would still give enemies a chance to punish a foolish stamina recover, while giving the player a bit more agency over their stamina management.

Option 2: Reduce the amount of stamina that attacks, dodges, & parries drain from the player. Give player a bigger stamina pool to work with, allowing for longer combos & stamina to spare for escaping a sticky situation. Stamina can still be a limiter, punishing players that recklessly overextend, leaving them dangerously exposed.

Everything about it is so lovingly crafted as an homage to the Dark Souls series, & as a fan of the series it's the mod I've been waiting for since I downloaded Rivals. I feel as though it is so close to perfection, the main blemish being the punishing stamina system. As I've been playing, I have thought of a few solutions to make the stamina feel much more immersive to the rest of the character's design.

That's what I can't seem to get past, the running. I know that in the actual Dark Souls you can't recover stamina from running, but transferred into this game it feel gratuitous. Jumping takes stamina in Dark Souls, but you can B-hop as much as you like here, & even regain some stamina while doing it (the main way I regain stamina while staying alive). It just feels so needlessly punishing, especially for how much stamina you are constantly burning. It feels as though you are trying to contain a power-house character with a substantial drawback to balance it out. But despite the Chosen Undead's well-crafted move set, they are not at all a power house. So while I always feel like I'm having fun playing this character, using it's moves to the fullest, I find myself constantly fixated on my overly depleted stamina, to the point where it's all I can focus on.
And Yet, I still love this character.

First of all, this character feels A M A Z I N G. It can be really hard to capture that flow in a character, but I think this move set is a smooth fit for this character. I honestly wouldn't tweak much if you are to review the move set later, as it's very well rounded.
However, as some previous comments have mentioned, the main flaw of this character is the stamina system. From several of play with my experienced friends, we all agree that the stamina system for this character is far too punishing. The bar is segmented into 12ths, but even your weakest moves use at least two of them, not to mention the heavier moves or the ones that you charge. After about three moves, you'll be practically dry of stamina. Alright, not to bad of a problem, all I need to do is let my stamina naturally regenerate & I'll be back in the fight. I just need to make sure not to attack, or use a recovery, or DODGE, or RUN.

to that end, both of the problem attacks are aimed down, his tiny shield swing, and the stomp. I'm not counting the stuff in the trailer as that seems to have been made by an optimization ogre. remember the thing I said about "give me space?" why do I NEED space when I can just pogo on people all day and get AAAALLL my stamina back, bit by bit? for that matter, why IS the stomp a pogo? why doesn't it, y'know, stomp? keep the bounce, That part's fine, just send people where they belong, on the ground, AWAY from me.

as for the crouched shield, same issue. get 'em real close, pester the legs, and there's all that stamina back, piece by piece. if it was a straight shot away, a fixed sideways distance, that'd feel more like the 'GET AWAY FROM ME" swing that it looks like.

alright, so after 26 wins and 7 losses in random AI fights, I have some notes, first being that it's too easy to win. This is the dark souls guy, he should have the HARDEST time. but seeing as this is a game with online capability, I may be crazy. because yeah, going against REAL people, he probably needs his kill power.

onto a realistic niggle, I DO have a problem with his combos, and it's the fact that I said COMBOS. for me, dark souls has been a game about making space, how much distance can I keep from you to get my energy back? a big part of that, is indeed, the attacks. can I hit you in the head HARD enough that you'll leave me ALONE, for 5 SECONDS?
