This is awesome, reminds me of Tomb Raider obviously, but also some of the Mortal Kombat games, like 4 and Mythologies.

Forgot to specify, I've also removed the jump boost to make movement feel identical to SDK 2013 movement rather than SDK 2006 movement (pre-Steampipe with the forward jump boost).

Anyway, I figured rather than removing the boulder, I'd just apply a temporary speed multiplier boost for 4 seconds when the boulder entity spawns and it works well. A bit hacky, but hey, it doesn't spoil the experience and modding this shitass engine is all about being hacky anyway.

The map is possible with HL2's speed. I tested it primarily in HL2 because I was too lazy to constantly load gmod. In HL2, I was able to outrun the boulder by sprinting and jumping the entire way.

I do appreciate the praise, I just never know how to respond to it.

Absolutely FANTASTIC map!! It perfectly recreates that old-school feel from games like Tomb Raider, Turok and Unreal! Having a linear map structure with simple puzzles + AI Nodes enables me to play through this map with randomized enemy spawns and have a banger time doing so.

The only problems with this map is the traps being designed around Garry's Mod's default speed. The map is unbeatable if you play with Half Life 2's speed, which a decent amount of players use.

While I was scripting a sort of minigame specifically for this map, which requires you to play through it, then once you reach the final puzzle, go through it in reverse as you go back to the spawn point, I also had to script a check which prevents the boulder entity from spawning to prevent unavoidable cheap deaths. Maybe consider altering the traps in the future...

Aside from that, this is easily one of my top favorite maps, you absolutely NAILED IT!! I hope to see more stuff like these! :steamhappy:

Unfortunately there's nothing I can do about people using movement mods. The map was designed around vanilla movement. The totems aren't meant to get destroyed so that was also a mod you were using. (The totem gets teleported if they end up underneath the boulder when it stops)

The map almost had no ambience at all like my previous maps until some friends begged me to add ambience. Thank god they did, the map is way better for it.

My only critcisms of this map, because of my movement speed setup which creates more realistic inertia in how I move, the traps in this map instant killed me even with bullet time and diving to try and avoid it even at full sprint, also the puzzles broke for me as a boulder crushed me and destroyed the artifact probably not helping I had extended prop damage mod on which probably caused the totem to be destroyed cause of the boulder.

In general I had to explore various parts of the map with god mode on and also using noclip. But that isn't entirely your fault it's partially just how things went on my end with my mods etc.

It's a excellent map though, I love the music and ambience overall visual and audio appeal of the first memorial grave, the lava hell lair beyond the waterfall surprised me. It's prison actually creeped me out a bit. It's open areas with the bridges was beautiful. I overall love the feel of this old school retro almost goldsrc like map.
