Let me tell you however, I'm not a fan of "Elitizing" everything reskins (every units get armour that looks heavier even though its not period or role appropriate) - but well, each to their own - Its the spirit of modding that anyone can do whatever they want. I mean, I am doing what I want.

Yamamoto Yaeko Rifle Joshi tai: Yae no sakura movie about her. (serial)

Is there a way to edit the .pack file to make them avaialale in campaign for another faction, like the Jozai? I saw the obvious category in the mod and added an additional 4 lines to allow the 2 new units to Jozai, but still can't unlock them as a recruitment option in campaign. Please advice?

Love this mod because it adds more female units. I just wish there were more female unit mods for fall of the samurai, for other regions.

for some reason these units are not showing up to recruit I have the right buildings (legendary dojo the upgraded samurai master dojo, star fort the upgraded citadel, and the firing range) and am playing the right faction (Aizu) might I have to restart my campaign? or am I missing something? they do show up in custom battles

It is also not unheard of to bring women out to meet the enemy in the field when times are desparate, such as during...total war, when every man woman and child in the society has to put thier all into a single conflict. It is sort of ironic that the series, depsite the title has never actaully given you the chance to truly wage total war

@Flack I did a little bit of both, with their formation limiting their melee effectiveness, and their matchlocks limiting their ranged effectiveness. However, they are genuinely skilled fighters both close and far.

About Number in a Unit, 72 is already a generous number for Hero units - most only have 40.

Yes, They are skirmishers and not meant to fight in line.

@MagicalSmallrusWalrusJones I'd reccomdend making the matchlock kachi in FotS to be a hybrid range-melee unit. That way they can let loose a barrage before impact of battle, and still do well in close-quarters.

The problem with skirmishers in Total War games is that the AI rarely only sends a spoiling force to attack you, or hold a strong position. Most of the time, the AI attacks with the entire army at the same time making skirmishing pointless.

Flack, I am assuming that the rifles are skirmishers: Their naturally loose formation allows them to have all ranks fire.

A style of unit that is almost entirely lacking in FOTS. (I am considering rewriting matchlock kachi to be skirmishers just so they have a purpose.)

I do wish the Yamamoto Yaeko Rifle unit had soldiers assigned to it, a 72 unit regiement in an ultra battle makes then hopelessly outnumbered against even miltia. I also sort of wish they could allowed to form a line. One of my strategies is to mix my battle line with rifles to reduce the ability for the enemy to skirmish them, which gets annoying if the Onna Bushi unit wont form line, and make a vunurable point for cavalry to charge.

You can see the women of Aizu in the TV movie Byakkotai as well. In it they train some of the Byakkotai in firearms. It was funny because Aizu men back then weren't allowed to talk to women they weren't related to in public so they had to not speak at all while learning. You can also see them fighting with naginata in the fall of Aizu.

Dammit moon moon, I really hate that legs. You can see it looks a little weird when they kneel.
I would prefer the normal samurai legs than the hakama.
