sorry, forgot to write, it somehow just fixed itself. just from one moment to the next i started taking damage at night. nearly gave me a heart attack after being lulled in for so long

@Kasrkin Have you checked the mod settings? The default dmg out of the box is 0.

oh, yeah, sorry, i tried both, adding it at gamestart and adding it via Dev Mode. i get messages, it SOUNDS like damage is happening, but everyone is fine

How exactly does oblivion night work? Will the map be normally bright during the day, or will it still be eternal darkness, but only the effects take place at night? (Never played don't starve)

I did a little more testing here, seems like the damage does work as long as you trigger the event from dev mode, but doesn't seem to work if you set it as a permanent condition at the start of the game. This is specifically for oblivion, not oblivion night which seems to work fine.

I do use tons of mods though and have no idea what might be causing this interaction. Either way, triggering it from dev mode is a good enough work around for me. Thanks again, OP :)

I'm having the same issue others have mentioned, the damage sound and notification play but there's no actual damage. Nevertheless, I love the concept of this mod and really appreciate your making it. Thanks, OP :)

Anyone having issues where the darkness does not do damage: Move this mod higher in the mod list. I don't know how high, but I set it to load right after Anomaly, so pretty high up, and works perfectly now. RimPy for some reason puts it pretty low in the loading order.

I don't use combat extended and I'm having the same problem. I set damage to 3, armor pen to 10%, apply settings, naked pawns. No pawns are getting hurt by the darkness. I activated all valid targets and aside from playing the sound, it doesn't do damage

Oblivion Night is awesome and I was looking around the workshop for something similar for my next playthrough, only to be greeted with the wonderful realization that it's been added to the very mod I had as my backup plan.
I was initially confused by the desc so anyone confused:

Lethal / Permanent Darkness: Sun is kapoot + Darkness damages you.

Oblivion Darkness: Darkness damages you, but sun is not kapoot, so safe to be out in the day. Like in desc, it's like Don't Starve.

Seems using Combat extended causes the no damage bug for me, when disabled my pawn gets damaged again

I've changed it from 2 to 10 to 999. The sound play and it says they are being attacked But no damage. I don't know if it's any of my mods. I do appreciate the reply

So my colonists are not getting hurt with your Oblivion mod. Had to switch to unnatural darkness and it finally hit them. Is there a problem with it somewhere?

Is there a way you could add a slider into the mod setting so you can change the amount of damage the darkness does and its' attack intervals.

@Dead Beat Gamer currently darkness damage can be made negligible by wearing a lot of armor because it has 0% armor pen.
my suggestion is making an optional option that make darkness damage ignore armor?(give it insane armor pen)

@Farmer Joe Hmmm, I don't think so. At least not with the micro managing way I play. I just love having environmental threats to contend with rather than raid after raid. The other idea I had was to make oblivion an event.

I just realized the damage doesn't scale much, so if a pawn is too tanky the darkness will do literally nothing

are we talking here, deal huge amount of damage at once? kill pawn if they stay in the dark for longer than X second?

I really love this mod! I have one suggestion for a third permanent game condition; Oblivion Darkness, where anywhere where light is at 0% (or -50% or what ever) the darkness will be lethal. So for example if during the day you go to a cave the darkness in the cave would be lethal. I hope that makes sense. Just an idea I had that I thought you might be interested in. Thank you so much for this stellar mod!

Does this mod use the same darker night as the normal Unnatural Darkness? I have a mod that makes the Unnatural Darkness much darker and was wondering whether it would apply to this one as well.

@Farmer Joe Ahh, makes sense. I thought it might have been a special exception since you still get the warning letter for solar flares in UD, unlike other events that just go missing. Thx for the clarification 👍

@BlueBead Oblivion doesn't prevent other incident from taking place, hence why Solar Flare is taking effect. normally UD prevent all other incident.

FYI solar flares do nothing during unnatural darkness but not oblivion. Not sure if you'd count that as a bug or a feature. I've been kinda enjoying the panicked scramble for torches when they come, haha.
Also I'd love an option to make hostile humanlikes immune to the dark to make things more challenging.

Thanks for making this mod! I was so disappointed when the official permanent game condition: unnatural darkness was super lame, so having this is great.

This is a mod that I really need. It's really well made, but I need extra features, I hope the darkness doesn't attack the hostile pawn. i love this mod
