[1.6] Hunting Traps

Actually, I noticed that I haven't caught... Uh, anything, for like a year with a good six or so traps, and the console ticks constantly about error messages. This one isn't working for me. There's not too much I can do to troubleshoot this one, so I'll leave it off for now.

It may not be an issue anymore since 1.6 has a new research layout but iirc you need to assign a direct xy position to the project inside of the research tab which becomes an issue when you don't know where other mods will put their research projects inside of the main tab. If there is a way to do it so it is guaranteed to not overlap with existing projects then sure but I'm not sure if that is possible and how do it if so.

Please remove it from it's own research tab and either at it to the Main tab or fold it in under an existing vanilla research. Mods that add entire research tree tabs for one research makes users cry.

It spawns trapped animals, doesn't effect any animals already on the map.

These trap small animals already on the map? Or trapped animals spawn into the trap apart from wild animals on the map?

Congratulations on the great idea. Could be a wooden trap that only works on dirt. And a steel trap that works on both dirt ane/or stone. And a trap, for fishing of the Odyssey DLC, made of wood with fiber/hay to collect fish in the water.

I'm not sure when I'll get a chance to take a look at it but if possible do you have a way to recreate the error so I can test it out, and is it breaking the game or what exactly is going on when you get the error?

I only have harmony and this mod enabled.

Minor bug, the traps are still being refueled even you mark them as "no refuel"

I had no blocked animals in my list. I added Boomrat to the list and it's showing as blocked now. Again it might be a mod conflict, just wanted you to know.

@Flankspeed Can you check the mod settings and see if Boomrat is in the blocked list, and if it is try removing it and then adding it back in there. If it continues after that, I'd have to take a deeper look and see if I can figure out whats going on.

Confirmed Boomrats are appearing in the trap, at least for me. Not sure if some my mods are breaks your mod or what.

It's exploding/catching fire for me too. I'm using Biomes Caves and Prehistoric mods so maybe that adds something small that explodes? Not sure. Any chance we can also build them out of something that doesn't burn...like stone? 100 wood for something that might catch fire is a bit rough. I think 100 wood cost might be a little high but I want to use it more and see how often it catches animals to decide.

Ok weirdly enough, it stopped happening out of nowhere lol. I'm gonna let it run for a full year to see if it might have been something seasonal? Very strange

@Crabby654 Try to keep an eye on what animal is being spawned when it explodes then, boomalope and boomrat should be blocked by default.

@Crabby654 You probably have a mod which adds exploding animals, possibly Alpha Animals, in which case you should go into the mod settings and block those animals. Some specific animals from Alpha Animals that you may want to remove are Aerofleet, Luciferbug, and Ocular Jelly.

I love this little mod. Question though, any particular reason these tend to explode? I'd say about almost 25% of the time these will explode and cause fire damage

No, atm there is only a small trap. I have plans to add a larger one in the future but no timeline on that.

Update: You should be able to go into the mod settings and block any animal from spawning now.

Wow I didn't expect that. Thank you. As a work around I figured out if you just cancel the hunt on the captured creature the trap will continue to work and no explosion. Downside to that is the map fills.

I am using Alpha animals. So it is most likely my fault but, I'm getting Aerofleet, Lucifain bugs, and the like. But, I suspect they are all alpha animals. I was just wondering if there was like a file I could edit?

found this is most recent it has potential but for right now its pretty inefficent in my opinion
