the 271k number doesnt account for actual extermination which DID take place, it only shows SOME of the REGISTERED deaths (key words: SOME and REGISTERED - those who were sent to the gas were never registered and most who were registered were never reported as dead). this is why you'll see mentions of auschwitz, majdanek (camps with gas AND work) but no mention of treblinka, sobibor, belzec
