Adding to my last comment: We probably don't need logic for Kha'ak? I don't think you're supposed to be able to acquire those and that's my bad. I was just going quickly and didn't consider that.

There is an issue with Xenon and Kha'ak ships, it can be fixed by editing the .dat to replace the instances of

<eject_npcs object="$target" />

in both the player targeting and user targeting sections with

<do_if value="$target.owner == faction.xenon or $target.owner == faction.khaak">
<destroy_personnel object="$target" />
</do_if>
<do_else>
<eject_npcs object="$target" />
</do_else>

(I am not an expert at all I just did my best to solve a problem I found)

This is exactly what I wanted, but I am seeing tooooo much NPC ships lying around empty. Especially for at the start of the game. Definitely would love to have either a configurable, or large reduction in NPC vs NPC bailing, especially in VRO.

so, if a captain of a military ship never bails then what is the point of this mod? The military ships are the ones I want. I can spam marines if I want freighters or constructors.

Can also confirm, this DOES NOT work on Xenon ships. Marines just vanish.

can confirm, cannot claim bailed xenon ships as the bailed xenon ships for some reason still have a captain (can spacewalk and manually claim with repair laser then they just start moving again)

This mod is nearly perfect for me, works as intended. I had to disable it temporarily because NPC vs NPC gets out of hand, over 10 bailed ships at getsu fune in 30-60 play session(TER vs Xenon). Would like to see an option to disable NPC vs NPC. 7.5 in VRO though it works perfectly because S and M ships tends to get decimated too quick for vanilla Bail system.

Is there any way to change values in this mod so that there is a chance of the xl ships being capped in npc vs npc? I don't want my game flooded with them, just some to find from time to time

A fix for claiming Xenon Ships - right now they Marines just dissipate into thin air and the ship remains unclaimed.

It kind of was, but I'm looking to do an update soon. I can confirm the mod works with the latest version (7.5) of X4 though :). Any requests for features in the next version?

If possible, I suggest adding a hitpoint difference check to the panic, so basically if the enemy pilot thinks they are winning by a good margin they gain no panic. Also would remove the bail for most Xenon ships since they are not claimable, maybe a separate mod if you want them to bail and be claimable.

In vanilla the higher skilled a pilot is the more damage they'll do to their ships systems on eject.

Does your mod change anything with this?

@vindicator, i just noticed something in the 7.0 vanilla bailing code that may be important to keep in mind: Xenon have a different bailing chance compared to other ships.

Hmm in real life .... How many guys you think would not leave a sinking ship and want to drown with it ? Yes nearly 1% and the rest would try to save their lifes.

So the reality logic would be, that every pilot would leave his space ship to spare his life and the game would be full oft abandoned ships. This mod makes this only a little more realistic because not all are stupid Kamikaze Pilots.

But it breaks also the econemy. You would be rich in no time to collect all the ships. That was the only reason why i have deleted this mod and switched back to a older one. I want to have it a little more easier to pirat ships by myself but dont want run arround as a collector.

Is it possible to disable the notification when you have an advanced satellite? I'm getting messages every 30s because I like filling sectors with adv sats to be able to see everything.

The bail chance is realy high now, and pilots bail from ships that are perfectly combat ready (50+% Hull)

Interesting mod. From the comments, it seems it still needs a bit of tweaking so it doesn't completely unbalance the game, but I'll keep on eye on it.

Hi Vindicator,

Please take this as a constructive comment.

Tried your mod because it seems like you are addressing some of the missing or not so refined bail mechanics in the base game.

What happened in my game was that every battlefield was full of abandoned ships and you could easily find them even outside the main battle areas.

It seems that with some tweaks on the chance of bailing caused by other NPCs and in general, and as suggested, in a mechanic for NPCs to also claim some of the ships would make the mod more balanced.

As it is, I have decided to not use the mod because it makes it too easy to get abandoned ships, to the extent that it would be easier, and less of a shore, to just use a cheat mod to spawn the ships you want.

Came here to see if there were settings I could adjust because I don't feel like ships bail enough for the amount of war going on in my game, and I see some comments saying it happens too much in their game.

In any case, i love this mod! However, in my game it feels unbalanced. I can get rich so quick by just scouting around and collecting abandoned ships as they bail often enough - in terms of galaxy.

Would be amazing if the NPC factions had special salvaging ships that do the same. Or if you'd get a reputation penalty for stealing their ships (which you actually do, you know). :)

@Desert: Read the mod description again. It says that captains never bail, they die with their ship. Yet they do in my game. So how about taking a deep look into the mirror instead of getting offensive on the internet and writing lol lmao after almost every sentence?

I like that the fact your stealing there ship, and leaving them in the cold of space but when they get murdered quickly instead of slowly freezing to death that's a no no lmao.

Is there a way to get npc's to stop attacking the escape pods? They seem to go out of their way to do it, and it's pretty harsh... especially when they ignore stuff like satellites most of the time.

Now even an XL bailed. A Hatram. 10 members, pilot included, ejected when i attacked them.

I just had an L freighter bail, despite the description saying L and XL ships don't bail completely. It had 9 members left, pilot included, and kept shooting its engines off as my fleet was away getting fresh crew after a failed boarding attempt. And suddenly all the 9 members, pilot included, left the ship. Never happened before using your mod 😐 The ship's hull is at 72%.

Also what others said: Bailed M/S ships everywhere, some with over 50% hull. I just got 13 Kyds from Vigor Syndicate that bailed when having a fight with the Argons.

true ... but there comes a point where ... u dont even need to claim baild ships if u reinvest it right .
and that takes billions of credits so im not going to complain ;p

I've found and claimed a few armed M ships with over 70% hull, no reason for them to abandon the ship. Seems a bit cowardly.

king .. i think if u lower the bail chance small ships have less chance to have a chance to bail b4 it blows up? .. but... that just an assumption ;p

mod sounds great, but this bit concerns me:

"Bailed ships will be deleted after roughly 2 hours, unless the player is in the same sector as the bailed ship."

- does this also apply to abandoned/derelict ships that spawn at specific locations in every game? like the odysseus in faulty logic or the osprey in company regard?

I am seeing reports of abandoned ships all over the place, some ships at over 50% hull. Could you lower the bail chance to bail only when say 25% rather than 50%

Vindicator.. ((thank you)) this mod has power washed all the grind out of this game, without it being to much of an advantage, it also works well with clear skies which makes up for the lack of missions because the faction start out with like 2 sectors..

@OtterSwag thanks for the heads-up, I will have to unpack the game files to work out why. Might wait for the beta to get a few patches first to make sure it's not a base game issue.

@Astalid 100% in my plans for the mod to allows players to tune the rates/limits. Definitely very hard to balance across all mod combinations, but I need to work out how to use the simple mod api mod first haha

Will post an update once beta 7.0 is in a more stable release :)

Just a heads up, the ejection chance/rate when using this mod has dropped significantly in 7.0. it still works tho and NPC bailouts work.

please add ingame sittings for chances and hull/shield percentes. i've modified files for myselff to dramaticaly low bailout chance. but' it's bettee to do ingame. cause various mods may affects. for example i've tried with and without Factions Wars mod and without this mod default settings seems ok, but with this mod enabled there is so many battles so abandoned ships are anywhere :-)
