wbwillis, will you please update portraits for all of the Italian factions, please? Some are too repetitive in vanilla mod.

Sorry, I’ve been taking a bit of a break from adding new factions. I’ll be quite busy through the end of May. So hopefully in June I’ll have time to add a few more.

Tycherious, I had people say that certain traits in the MK1212 mod don't work with it. I had started to look at making mine compatible so nothing is overwritten. But I really couldn't figure it out. I still play with Immersive Traits on because I enjoy the RPG depth it adds.

@wbwillis I hope you enjoy, they're all compatible with yours, do you still strongly suggest using your other mod 'Immersive Trail Overhaul'?

Christmas update:
Expansion of England
Increased total number of male and female portraits available to England.
32 total male character art (up from 18)
19 total female character art (up from 12)

*At the start of the campaign you will see some portraits repeated, this I think is connected to the scripting in the base mod. So I am not messing with it. But rest assured as your campaign progresses you will see more character diversity.

So for Christmas please enjoy conquering France or whatever adventure awaits you!

Hey folks, hoping to get a new update out soon. Mostly it’s an expansion of the English. I am hoping to find time in the next couple weeks. Time is very tight right now, but I haven’t forgotten about this mod :)

I also would love it if the 1212 mod team would incorporate this into their mod, or at least take my assets and repurpose them. I’ll certainly reach out.

@wbwillis I didn't see your reply until now. It doesn't matter if the update is late. I was just worried that something might have happened because I hadn't heard from you, but I'm glad to hear that it's nothing serious. I'm just grateful that your sub mode allows me to enjoy a better immersion.

@wbwillis This is amazing, I would love to see this implemented into the official 1212ad mod. Could there be a future collab before they release the expanded map?

@AksitCinar that is interesting . I will need to check it on my end and make sure it is working properly. I usually have this above all the mk1212 mods, so that shouldn't be a problem. Let me double check and make sure the Seljuk turks are working.

@Anonymous so this is a great comment, and my response doesn't exactly address this but... I found out that if you go into the graphics settings there is a little check box for 3D Portraits, (or maybe it says 2D portraits) Either way, if you disable the 3D portraits option then in diplomacy with other factions you will see their actual custom portraits and not the generic 3D variation. It does disable the 3D portraits in the faction selection, but the great thing is is that you can turn this on and off during the campaign. So I advise experimenting with it. I think 2D portraits is much more immersive, but it;s a personal choice for sure.

@as1031010 sorry it's been awhile since the last update. I am trying to get a ton of work done by the end of this year. I have some updated graphics I had worked on, so my hope is that I have time to update new graphics by Christmas.

I like this mod but a small suggestion when selecting the faction from grand campaign menu mk1212 many MANY leaders are with full helmet covering all their face. it would be much more unique to have their faces with some cultural looks like middle easter vs european...otherwise some leader portraits are awesome.

i did not see any different portraits with my seljuk turks gameplay, maybe my load order is not correct, i put this mod at the top

Just updated France. I am in the process of adding more portraits to this faction, I feel it plays such a central role in the history of this time period it could use a revisiting.

@as1031010; I think this is an idea worth pursuing. As I said I have some unused portraits which could work well for this purpose. I will see about creating more to increase the diversity a little.

@wbwillis Thank you for your kind response. My idea is to keep the existing portraits, but add more portraits from there. To summarize, Jochi will have three portraits of different ethnicities (Mongolian, Rus, and Turkic) and Il Khanate will have two portraits of different ethnicities (Mongolian and Persian).

This update also includes an expansion of Kingdom of Navarre portraits, and some other tweaks and fixes.

@AS1031010, I hear what you are saying. I did create some portraits that are ethnic mongols with more of a mix european and persian features and clothing was more of the nomadic look of the Cuman. I had wanted to use them for the the Alans. But could not figure out how to assign them to that faction. I think that perhaps what should do is assign those Alans to the Ulus and the Jochi. Just to add a little variety to the factions.

My initial thought was to make the Jochi feel very "Golden Horde" mongolian. While having the Jochi have a more Mongolian-China-Persian look. Curious to know your thought about just adding some additional portraits that reflect some more European ancestry or if you think it would be better to do a total swap.

This is my personal opinion. We know that in the case of Ulus of Jochi and Il-khanate, the Mongols became less numerous over time and eventually assimilated ethnically. So why not swap the portraits of each faction, for example, Il-khanate would have a mix of Persian portraits, while Ulus of Jochi would have a mix of Turkic, Rus' portraits.

Updated Genoa today. I've been focusing on Italy because I have been playing a campaign as Austria and found it distracting that so many of the city-states I was interacting with all were using the same portraits. (I play with 2D portraits on, not 3D)

Taking a little break for the next week. Just updated with Seljuk Turks. 18 unique general portraits, and 10 unique wife portraits, as well as unique baby/child portraits.

oh ok, I understand now. I’ll need to go in and see why that is. It should be fixable…
