It reverts back to original toolgun screen whenever I restart the game, any possible way of saving the progression?

does it work in multiplayer?

Does this work exclusively through imgur links? or would most image-hosting sites work?

Does this work along side other toolgun mods that change the model

@Noseboi right click gmod "To change your game branch simply right-click Garry's mod in your steam library and go to:
Properties -> Betas -> Beta participation -> Change to 'x86-64 Chromium + 64-bit binaries'"

It's literally the 3rd paragraph of the description, with a bold 'notice'. cmon man

also fyi, 'Chromium' is just the name of the open-source project that's behind the Google Chrome browser.

@Noseboi, @терминал - If the image URL is valid but your toolgun screen is just showing a black background then you probably aren't on the chromium branch of gmod.
See the notice at the top of the description or "I see a black screen instead of a web image" in the troubleshooting section.

screen all black when i equip toolgun (downloaded snoylib v2)

I made my own image to put on there, it did work, but the image didn't show up. It was just a black screen, I tried converting the image into jpg, but that didn't work either. How do i fix this?

@vze - For multiplayer the server also needs to have the addon, yes.

is this client sided or does the server hoster need to install it too

Oh, that would be because that is a link to a webpage with the image on it, not directly to the image itself.
Direct image links always have a URL that ends in .png/jpeg/gif/whatever.

I don't know if Google drive lets you copy direct links to images hosted there, but something like Imgur works fine.
For your case you should just be able to use this URL: https://i.imgur.com/nHu0x9o.jpeg

@A_dude - Do the included presets display correctly for you or are all web assets a black square? (Extra presets -> Steam Workshop)

Could you paste the custom image link you are trying to use here so I can test things on my end?

Ah, If web content is a black screen then you might not be on the Chromium
branch of gmod.
To use this version right-click Garry's mod in your Steam library and go to:
Properties -> Betas -> Beta participation -> 'x86-64 Chromium + 64-bit binaries'
After that all the images should be able to display correctly.

I've also updated the description so others will also know to do this. :)

A direct link to an image will have a URL that ends in .png, .gif, etc.

On most browsers you just right-click, open in new tab, then copy URL from that tab.
Some browsers may have a 'Copy image link' right-click option which works too.

Based on this feedback I've added some extra images to try and make it a little clearer.

@CoolMonkey85 - Hm, how odd. It seems to be working fine on my testing server.
Perhaps there's some other addon on that server causing a conflict?

I know it's not ideal, but for now the 'URLToolgun_Config' console command should work to bring up the menu in multiplayer.

@Idk gaming - That usually means the URL doesn't directly point to a valid image.
You could try copying the URL into a web browser to check where it goes?
Also make sure there aren't any unintended letters at the start of the URL, sometimes gmod is a bit weird with typing into text boxes.

@CoolMonkey85 - You don't see the Toolgun button on the menu bar at the top when you hold down C?

That's odd. So I can look into a fix can you let me know:
- If you are in singleplayer or a multiplayer game?
- In sandbox or a sandbox-derived gamemode? (DarkRP, etc)
- If you/the server also have the SnoyLib v2 addon installed?

@Idk gaming - Whatever you set as your toolgun background will only be seen by you, unless you are an admin and set it as the server default.
I can't recommend setting something sus as the server-wide default, but otherwise you do you.
