i actually had this silly idea for a lightsaber rework, in which instead of being regular swords, they have longer range and you swing them with your cursor while holding it.

If you prefer to swing more frequently/faster then you can use lighter swords and/or use the Strength Stone craftable accessory.

Interesting mod. But the combat have its issues.
1 - Because of the blocks collision its imposibble to do sword lunge from the ground move and also most swings doesnt count cause of 1-2 blocks behind you. Would be great if a few blocks around you was ignored or even beter if sword was actually colliding with them, but that much more difficult to make ofc.
2 - After hitting an enemy you have somewhat 0.5 - 1 second cooldown on swing, so you cant hit multiple enemys with it that makes combat less intense. Turning on infinity stamina makes it too overpowered and off make it worse any other weapons.

I was intending for this to be a challenge mod. And yes it is supposed to consume stamina even when not attacking.

I do understand that swords with projectiles are a lot less good with this mod, so I think I'll add an optional configuration setting that will disable this mod's effect for certain swords.

When the attack mode is set to 1 in the configuration, swinging the weapon without pressing the attack button still consumes stamina.

I agree with this.

I don't mean to say that swing mode is bad, but it requires harder operation, yet the damage is inconsistent, and the projectiles are difficult to aim. Without the range advantage, it seems a bit weak compared to other types of weapons.

What type of mod is this, sword overhaul or a difficulty increase?

Swords that do more damage have a further range on purpose, because as you progress in the game, it becomes more dangerous to stand closer to enemies.

I would probably make the swing attack a featured playstyle for some weapons rather than as a normal attack, similar to how a spear is compared to a sword.

Instead of asking me what to exclude, I would choose some swords to use swing mode, such as Death Sickle and Fiying Dragon.

I found that the ones with higher attack power will have a larger attack range. I recommend adjusting the attack range in the configuration.

As far as I know I can't make it compatible with DurabilityMod, but I can make it such that swords will not damage anything without pressing the mouse button as a configuration option. Also, what kinds of swords would you like to be excluded from the modded swinging?

It is recommended to add settings so that the attack button must be held down when swinging to attack. Otherwise, it is easy to accidentally damage other items or NPCs when used with other mods.

It is recommended that only specific weapons can be swing attacks, such as sickles and great swords. Other weapons use click attacks better. Otherwise, it will be too tiring and not suitable for long-term play. Coupled with the stamina system, many attack methods can be combined, whether swinging or clicking.

Well for the bad hit detection part, I think it's because when swinging to your side, it can only check where the sword is at for each frame (it can't check in the middle of two frames), so this problem is amplified when using the mod at a lower fps. For swinging above and below I could mitigate this problem by checking the current sword angle and the middle between current and previous, but I couldn't do this for the sideways angles b/c the angle snaps from min angle to max angle at a certain point.

its seems to be very finicky, i can swipe my cursor and itll deal only 4 damage. ive yet to see a swing exceed the base damage of the weapon, even though it takes more time and effort than just holding m1 to swing
