Depends on the puppet. Most German puppets don't have cores, because these states have been artificially created, without the backing of the local population. I plan on adding features for the players and puppets to be able to core those states, but this will come with a heavy price. I'm thinking of some dynamic system which can cause a civil war within the puppet, depending on how willing you both are to spend political power and ressources. You will still be able to choose the status quo: No cores but also no further risks.

Overall, I feel the word "republic" with those countries would not be ideal. Sans the various Chinese puppets and the Philippines. It implies the existence of their figurehead dynasties is stripped. In Indonesia for example, they worked with the local Kings, Sultans and Rajas.

@Nimbus, yeah I guess it depended on the location! I think they used the pre-existing structure of the government, by the looks of things. So, I highly doubt they will start abolishing existing monarchies (which are traditional strengths in those countries). For example, Bhutan, Tibet, Nepal, Cambodia, Vietnam, Laos - I think they will probably simply keep those dynasties there. As for those which already had republican governments, I would assume they would be kept that way. China is a great example of that. At the same time, Manchuria was referred to as an "Empire" despite being a puppet within Japan's reach. Weird!

Reallife examples would be the Republic of reorganized China and the Second Republic of the Philippines. French Indochina was partitioned into the Empire of Vietnam, Kingdom of Kampuchea and Kingdom of Laos, which I think is currently not properly represented within my mod yet, due to different sources at the time. At the end, interestingly enough, it seems like Japan was okay with any kind of government form as long as their new puppets embraced Japanese overlord rule. Maybe they just did name some republic in order to be seen as a liberator, who knows. Unfortunately, I was not able to find any evidence nor fact based explaination for this system. I was talking about alternative variants for releasable puppets. For example: Instead of releasing one Siberian Japanese Military administration you can release multiple national states

I love this mod so far, It's really fun because of how realistic it is to real and fictional puppets/allies.
