Looking through documentation to see if there is a turn cleanup way but I see it is certainly tricky, hmm.

@Sombre - Oh that’s unfortunate, wonder if we have another way to simulate the same thing.

@Aten: If the AI has recruited them then yes, after that if a player recruited them they'd be destroyed immediately, so not usable.

With this affecting Mercs form the comments, will this make them unusable?

I like the idea!

Events can't remove items.

If the item wasn't non removable the AI would move it around I believe. I don't know how much of a problem this would cause.

Could the event not be made to remove the item instead of the commander? I suspect there must be some reason why this would be hard to do but it seems strange enough to comment on.

Does the item being "non-removable" serve a useful function? If a player could remove the item and simply store it that might solve the problem (you wouldn't want to keep an item that was going to destroy its bearer after all)?

@FINAL BOSS: I don't think I can do anything about that. There's nothing specifically marking a mercenary as a mercenary that I could use to avoid giving them the item.

A Bug: When you recruit a mercenary, sometimes it is carrying this debug item.

@Andkat: You should still be able to seduce and keep mages, who don't get the item. They are, generally speaking, the main thing you would want to keep anyway.

There is no realistic way to give you a copy of the commander.
Andkat 27 mrt 2024 om 18:44
One very unfortunate interaction here is that it makes seduction/corruption rather pointless, as any leader you seduce/corrupt is autoremoved for being a player controlled unit with the autobless item. I'm not sure on how practical it is but if that's the only way to get rid of the item it would be nice if the script could spawn a copy of the stolen commander in its place (presumably without any xp/afflictions/gems/ etc. and rerolled paths, but whatever).
