That is, temperatures MANY times hotter than the surface of the sun. I don't think it "just" causes fourth degree burns. It de-atomizes you.

To BLADE, you DO realize matter needs to burn at thousands of degrees celcius in order to even produce plasma - right? The heat of a plasma cutter can reach 25,000 degrees celcius, and naturally occurring plasmas can reach temperatures of up to 11,000~ degrees celcius. Imperial plasma weapons are probably at LEAST 2,000 degrees, as that's the temperature even modern materials can withstand - let alone things like ceramite, adamantium, etc, which probably need temperatures of maybe even 30,000 to 50,000 or higher.

hey guy "who made that thing totaly unaccurate about the universe of Warhammer 40000"; the plasma gun DON'T disolve a guy (it just burn it to the 4th degree), and there is two possibility for the gun (the plasma gun, buh and the pure plasma gun), 8 for the hit to the guy (just nothing; it burn a little; it burn; it propusle yourself; it totaly destroy you; it destroy an arm, leg or the head; or it just kill you lol) and again, it depend about your charge into it and the plasma type.
BUTT (sorry I always wanted to say that). IT. DON'T. DISOLVE. YOU. (or... maybe a little for the 5th solution for the guy who is hitted)

The gun doesn't actually have a viewmodel, it is parented to a CS:S model which is downscaled, so not having CS:S might be causing that.
