@ayoshiappeared The debate began because of Steel Wool refusing to add some of the more asked for characters in the franchise, and giving us gems like reskinned Lefty, though I have come to value HW2 a bit more because some minigames are decent enough and I like the fact that some FFPS props like the Clowns and Trash & The Gang atleast made a cameo.

@Hariburger Scraptrap is somewhat obvious, Steel Wool still gives decent treatment to any Afton character so he would not appear in a random minigame, and I think they also acknowledge how bad of a reception Peanutrap had when FFPS first released.

Molten Freddy is weirder, perhaps because Blob/Tangle is the same character? Blob was actually meant to make an appearance in FizzyFaz, but he was replaced with Chica. I think it may be a case of them trying to retcon him away because they fully want to detach from old FNaF besides these references, and Molten Freddy is too close a character. Remember, Blob only had one cameo in all of Ruin, near the beginning.

@Giant Flying Bedsheets I disagree. I think most of the FNaF fandom genuinely prefers Afton, as overused and trite as he is, to the AI plotline we're getting. True, what people genuinely wanted was for Vanny to continue Peepaw's legacy, but Steel Wool clearly killed her off because she got bad reputation for being used only 3 times in Security Breach.

What really makes SW want to use Mimic is that he appeals to the kiddos. The books may have tons of written gore in the sense of him ripping people's arms off, but in the games, an evil AI is far more likely to get a bigger audience of children than a serial murderer, even when that murderer has been turned into a mad scientist glitched program thingy. And SW REALLY wants a child audience, proven by how they censored Vanny's knife and all voicelines even mentioning blood.

@AndrewJohn100 I would say even Help Wanted 2 suffered despite VR being clearly SW's expertise. It suffers from horrendous pacing (especially concerning the bad ending compared to Pizza Party), general lack of secrets apart from the memories (of which some are too easy and others are too hard to discover, like the Graveyard Shift drink or Fazerblast FNaF3), too much focus on Security Breach and Ruin with only one type of minigame dedicated to FFPS, all thrill or tension buildup replaced by generally ADHD-ridden minigames (even Ballora Gallery got a 5 minute timer slapped onto it, and the HandUnit jumpscare removed), somewhat shoddy animation work and possibly the two worst endings in the history of the franchise, even including Security Breach's useless endings.

Then again, HW2 was basically a rushed job to retcon Peepaw out of the series and push the Mimic into the spotlight, whilst teasing the FallFest game. No more Afton, folks.

Steel Wool giving us Pigpatch, Funtime Chica, knockoff Lefte and knockoff Hippo, but refusing to give us the rest of the Mediocre Melodies, the Rockstars or even the Posh Pizzeria trio.

Instead we get more Plushbaby minigames and Five Nights at the FizzyFaz emporium. Incredible.
