i wish these were rare, or at the very least a config to increase their rarity

not sure if its a common bug but the gaper filter resets automatically any time I re-launch the game. Is there a way to force it via file editing or smth?

Yeah, I started realizing that myself while working on this.
Maybe one day I’ll add costumes for all of the Basement enemies, but that would be a LOT of work, so definitely not at the moment.

this is really cool but it made me realize how little you actually see the gapers even on basement even though they're meant to be the most basic enemy

I… don’t think I’ll be able to fix water reflections. The reflection shader is broken even with non-modded items (with Sacrificial Dagger being the most obvious example), and in general, shaders are really finnicky to modify (plus I probably wouldn’t make a shader fix just for this, and it would probably be its own mod if I were to make it)

the reflections on water floors are WAY off. like they are a good 5-8 tiles away from the enemy.

No sorries, bud. You owe me or anyone nothing. Thank you for your work. Nice sprite selector menu. First time seeing a menu like this in an isaac mod. A little bit of polishing of the menu clisong logic and it's right there in top of one of the coolest mods out there.

Patch Notes (4/24/24):

- Added 35 new costumes, bringing the total up to 155!
- Added support for sprites with different sizes (used for Wayne and Joker)
- Added support for animated sprites (currently unused)
- Added a new menu which can be accessed by pressing "L", allowing for quick enabling/disabling of individual costumes!
- Re-implemented President costume.
- Updated Rainbow costume to be more flashy.
- Note: this menu can also be accessed through Mod Config Menu, but Mod Config Menu is no longer required to force specific costumes.

for what it's worth, that one is a joke costume. It originally cycled between all US Presidents from the year 2000 or before, but I disabled it temporarily since it was being buggy. I'm planning on re-adding the full joke once I add more in-depth mod menu support.

(also, for the record, that's John Tyler, not Lincoln :p)

this really needs mod menu support, especially after Lincoln and other low effort gapers :D

It's not, unfortunately. Most of the modding tools were added in Afterbirth+, so any version before that is not going to have any official modding support. However, The Modding of Isaac still exists, and I recommend checking it out if you want to find good Rebirth/Afterbirth mods.

- Detached the animations from the Gaper itself, potentially allowing for custom animations and behavior of the costume (and adding support for Revamped and Reworked Foes by proxy!)

FUTURE PLANS:

- I'm thinking about making a completely separate menu from Mod Config Menu that allows for a broad view of many different images (the costumes in this case), with the option of toggling specific costumes, saving presets, forcing a specific costume, etc.

- Animated costumes and costumes with more complex effects (e.g.: changing color with damage)

- Branching out to other enemies?
