Thnak you! I probably should wait then and see what the price will be agreed upon on backpack.tf, but if this really keeps being an extra-rare item, I might just keep it for the honor of unboxing it! Either way i loved your effect and wish to see more of your work on TF2 (considering the quality of this one), so yeah! Too early to say. How it usually goes, after January 5th, this effect will never be able to get unboxed on that hat again. That would make your unusual one of those special limited ones. I would recommend that you look at the listings of Seared Sorcerers that have effects from past events to get a general estimate. However in reality it's however much someone is willing to pay for that hat with this effect and how much you're comfortable with receiving. If there is no price then you set the price. If no more are unboxed by January 5th and the effect is considered good then more people could also be interested. That's about as much advice as I can give. Congrats on the unbox.

When I first saw this effect in game I thought the white effect was upside down. I guess it's supposed to be worried eyes or something? Other than that I do like seeing something mechanically new being added.

This effect's concept came to me with no other outside influence or help and it was made as a Particle Mayhem 2 contest submission. It surprised me that it won 1st place and I'm happy that Valve added it to the game. I was not expecting any of this and neither was I expecting any of my other submissions to make it into the game. I think it's pretty cool. :steamhappy:

@Wolftale The Emporium dates back to Facepunch forums which came a little after Polycount. Some people who want to make TF2 content naturally go there for resources or for an easy way to find other people to collaborate with making TF2 content. I know a few others who do the same and I also know others who are not there at all. I never needed to join during the Facepunch forum days because most of the TF2 content was public.

There are some other places to go to look for TF2 resources and I am there too. I am not a super old user there and I don't know what "working for them" means. I suppose that means I don't work for them. However if I left the group then I would most likely lose some TF2 resources so I would rather not.

revisited concept, but still implemented somewhat well. If it gets added to the game, it feels like its gonna be a good tier, in the low tier effects

If anybody missed it, the effect is inspired by A Christmas Carol by Charles Dickens. Ebenezer is visited by the ghost of Jacob Marley and then visited by the ghosts of Christmas Past, Present and Future. Specifically in that order.

I really like the fire one and the one with chains, looks really good. This effect as a whole is one of few circling effects that actually gets it right, and would be desireable imo.

I mean, yeah, effect cycling between its variations over time is unique and cool in its own right, the animation is really smooth, but i would love to see the 2 i mentioned as separate effects, and i feel like a lot of other people will too.

You could however keep the dark one and the smissmass one as a cycling effect between 2, that way it will preserve the idea and also make the whole thing less busy and more logical, like happy holiday spirit turning into dark mad one and vise versa, huh? It would be great smissmass effect that also does not look very out of place to wear all year.

Split it into 4 separate effects, remove 2 of them and focus on the other 2 to make them as good as you can.

I disagree. We finally have a an effect that is unique that is not a hat. Separating the effects would kill this effect like how separating the story of the ghosts of christmas in to separate stories would kill it.

I would definitely remove the changing of the effects; this is definitely way out there. I would focus on one variant and stick with that, or separate/combine some of the effects. There are good ideas, but to condense it all into one effect is a bit absurd.

A little too busy imo, if the different cycles were separate effects I think I could get behind this but as it stands it feels like 4 unusual effects in one. However I do love the reference and I hope it gets in if you do break it up.

Ay this is very good! I love how each Ghost is represented and feels unique from each other. I especially love the Ghost of Smissmas Future!

There is no custom code or changes needed. The effect works out of the box like a normal unusual effect would.

I thought these were four different effects :steamfacepalm: This is really cool and the fact you managed to make a circling effect great in general yet alone good for a circling effect is amazing :steamhappy: But I'm just worried as the engine that tf2 runs on is almost 20 years old is this much "heavier" than your average unusual effect? I don't know much about programming so for all I know this could only have a one line of code or a hundred
