You guys don't understand, who cares about what articles and websites and other official media say about the game. Cant you see what SpeisCheese is doing with the hl2 and cs universes, hes crossing them over to make the valve cinematic universe (or the vcu for short) and will make million at the box office with director jj abrams at the helm. it will be so successful, that's why i'm investing my entire lifesaving's ,bank account, and my college loans towards the movies. If you're as smart as me you'll do the same.

@SpeisCheese ok first off you got the dates wrong the seven hour war happened around 2005-2014 after the black mesa event which happened around 1998-99 counter strike happened somewhere between the 1990s and 2005 and if you include CS:GO then that happened between 2009-2013 which both half life and cs are two different universes. Plus hl2 happened around 2019 so yeah

but good map though hope you can make more of these sometimes

After the Black Mesa incident the Portal Storms occured in which massive storms released beasts from Xen and other planes all throughout Earth. Beasts, elements, parasites, unknown materials, energies, all sorts of things were released onto Earth. This massive rift opening and the energy release that accompanied it was a blip on the Universal Union's (Combine) radar. I.E. as a result of the Portal Storms the Universal Union was informed as to Earth's location and began to plan and prepare a invasion. In short, there was a roughly 7-11 year span of Portal Storms that come between the Black Mesa Incident and the Seven Hour War.

In my remember, the Seven-Hour War begin at 2007. Some mouth after the accident of Black Mesa. Or at 2010, if it's 2010 this is 3 year after the accident of Black Mesa.
But the map seem cool i think i going to test it.

There is no official date. Other websites state that HL2 takes place in 2020. Which means that the resonance cascade happened before 2000. If the Seven hour war starts in 2010, HL2 would take place in 2030

You need to optimize most Source maps. Remove most props(except prop_statics). These are one of the main reason why compiling takes hours...but I can't help more. Sorry.

I've been trying to make gm_argentan (DoDS map) because I'm sick of all the crates in the way and shit when trying to make a movie in it, but it takes less then a minute to render and the lights won't work. It's very strange.

I was already doing it, but the Source engine and Hammer is simply f***** up...so I wasn't able to continue editing it. There are also many optimization issues.

gm_assault would be pretty cool. I'd make it myself, if my compiler wasn't glitching up so bad. :(

Well I supposed it is in 2000. And I din't know that between the Resonance Cascade and the 7 hour was such a huge time difference.

No what happened was in 2000-2010 was resonance cascade (proven by valve) and in 2010 the combine took over. Gordon was put in stasis at the end of Half Life 1 which took place in 200-. Alyx was an infant in hl1, but in hl2 she is about 20. Gordon was asleep for 20 years then, and the combine took over about ten years before Hl2. Also with the computers, the game was made in 2004 where those kind of computers were popular, and Valve probably didn't think to put in computers from the "future" and they probably had no idea what they were going to look like 6 years later, let alone 16 years later. Same goes for the cars. If valve had tried to make technology what it would be in the 'future' (2010ish) then when time passed and it actually was 2010+ then people would look back and say "what the hell were they thinking when they put this hunk of ugly technology in their game?", like back to the future did.

Isnt possible. The seven hour war was around 2000. If 2020 is the year where Gordon Freeman destroys the Citadel, the Seven Hour which happened 20 years BEFORE the citadel's destruction, it can't be 2010. And look at all these TV and PC screens. In 2010 it's rare to see such things anymore.
