Agree with scutatus, the Oberth would never be able to fight (it's made of explodium, after all) but maybe those scientific scanners could give its phasers the targeting resolution to hit things like torpedoes?

It looks to me like the Oberth fills a corvette/Frigate role in combat configuration. So no, it won't take any punishment in a toe to toe fight (just like a real corvette) but it might serve a purpose as, say, a point defence vessel protecting the larger ships of the line.
