okay, issue fixed along with some other minor changes you can see in the change notes.

being able to deactivate cleaners that were villagers was actually a bug -- owing to what seems to be the fact that village code is old and janky and doesn't use the same methods to track that a creature has a unique social role as other stuff does -- so I have fixed that, but I've also made it so that cleaners relinquish their inventory when deactivated. I apologize again about your legendary :P

One of these guys spawned as a village legendary holding a quest item for another village. I thought I had the bright idea to deactivate it to get it for free. It turns out that deactivating a cleaning robot deletes its entire inventory, so I had a dormant cleaning robot in place of the legendary.

Essential!! Now I can stroll through Grit Gate without wiping my feet first!! Honestly I put one or two of these in any high traffic area. Honestly it reduces lag too

I haven't tested it extensively, but it looks like this mod works with 1.0 out of the box! feel free to bring it along during your playthroughs, if that's your sort of thing. and definitely report it to me if you run into any issues.

just a heads-up: I'd expect a few days' wait after 1.0 drops before this updates. it's possible it might update same-day, but chances are I'll wanna just dive in and take a few days to play the game unmodded. libndink

now that the game is ostensibly not going to be getting any more weekly updates until 1.0, I've taken the liberty of pushing through a bunch of save-breaking changes with this latest update! you can find scrapped/dormant cleaners now so you can put these things down wherever you want them. Golgotha has a few, but you can tinker them too.

as mentioned, this update is save-breaking!! if you're using an older save, then you can download the old version from GitHub here [github.com] and install it locally in order to keep using it.

Should be compatible with Spring Molting. it works fine at the moment but I expect I'll make some feature changes along the lines of the last comment, so look out for that. shouldn't break saves ofc

at the moment you can't get any more of them except through finding them randomly in the world or by wishing them in. maybe once the next update comes out I'll add a feature where you can find scrapped ones in Golgotha (like the waydroids) and fix 'em up. not sure!

as for accessing their settings -- you should be able to open their context menu (the same one with actions to mark them as a target, examine them, etc) and look for the action labeled "configure". if it's not there, i'll take a peek and see if it's maybe been broken somehow.

Is there any way to get more of them, or like, allow them to wander and clean?

Because MAN, is the descent to Grit Gate covered in slime and other disgusting stuff in my run.
And similarly, I would love to give some places a cleaner, outside Grit Gate.

Also, how does one access the menu? I tried talking to them and didnt work. Do I have to recruit them?

i'm not sure! I haven't tried the beta yet. it should work fine unless there's been some breaking code changes.

I don't thiiink so -- iirc the only guaranteed one shows up in grit gate, and otherwise they just show up in the dynamic encounters table

My first cleaning robot is a warden! In the salt, which is honestly very good idea. Every village with Fractus should have one of these things, standard-issue.

I haven't tried it, but since the code is all self-contained and doesn't require any patches, it shouldn't break unless something has changed in the API. if you do run into errors, paste em here and I'll fix them

you should be able to just enter in the creature ID - for the base type, this is Ava_CleaningRobots_Cleaner , and for the Grit Gate type, this is Ava_CleaningRobots_GritGateCleaner
