I really appreciate w1tcher's work and I also agree with other people's argues. Can you map makers ask Valve to add a function of workshop that the author of the Not Compatible maps can state in the map page that he is doing the porting work.

also a lack of disapproval doesn't mean a default approval

maybe make a list of the maps you are planning to port and give the mapmakers veto rights. leave it up a month or 2 before starting? then you're not wasting any time. a lot of these mapmakers have moved on, some will tell you not to port their maps.
