Congrats on helping the workslop degrade this game's artstyle even more than it already has been.

Not sure if cartoony is exactly the right word, but this definitely looks too much like a 2d cartoon or animation rather than a proper particle effect. Something like the soul particles that drop on the floor during scream fortress would not only work much better but it would also be centered around something that resembles the game.
