It is NOT a viable self-defense weapon, as I expected.
This is a bad thing for self-defense, yes, but strangely, it's also a good thing because it doesn't register as an attack at outposts, so you can get a full-on Husk outbreak started with it.

that mod adds a perk that increases damage by 120% with both the husk stinger and spineling spikes and that would work well with this (There may be other perks that do things similar but I am unsure)
