ok i got it to work but the part that didn't work was i added new events to show in captions like the Event.LeavingSafety_Mall to say [Game On!].etc and aton of other new things that don't show up and there is most likely nothing we can do to fix that but if there is let me know and that would be Great

Delete captioncompiler.exe and then verify the game files of Left 4 Dead 2 Authoring Tools. That should download a new one that'll be fixed.

Regarding step 4, you can also use vpk.exe to unpack the vpk

not only did i use these for l4d2 i also used it for l4d1 thats how much i liked them but the infected sounds dont pop up in l4d1 so dont put em in the first game whatever you do 🤣

You could just ignore the closed captions file for now and just do the subtitles if you want the horde incomings to work.
