I just don't see how anyone can suffer so much from those paints that it justifies ruining an otherwise strong feature of the item.
Team recognition is another thing entirely, but this item adds so much team color that I fail to imagine any circumstance where painting it slate or orange will cause any confusion.
it just seems a bit overblown, really
if people want to wear a bunch of pink and lime they have plenty of options already. I'm not gonna kneecap a good design because a few people have tacky sense, when people who have modest and fair taste would make good use.
I don't feel like I should have to keep reiterating this point, this is just such an absurd culture war meme for the tf2 community at this point and it's gotten really tiresome. When I started playing tf2 in 2011-2012 we just made fun of people who used tasteless paint colors; the onus was on players to use paint responsibly, and good cosmetics had good paint regions that benefitted people who liked tasteful and muted colors.
if someone wants to be tacky and paint theirs a bright color, that's really not a big deal, just make fun of them for doing that like we always did. there are so many good paint colors that work well here that I think it's a fair 'tradeoff'
It bums me out that this even needs to be said, we've had a solid 13 years of this being a generally unspoken truth with cosmetics and only in the past couple years have people really started to fuss about paint regions like this. This item adds too much team color to risk a waders-baggies situation, and beyond that I don't see any issue
anecdotally; it's been a long time since i even remember seeing a loadout that prominently uses bright paints. unless you're on a trade server or uncletopia, this is a non-issue
I would agree with you if the paint replaced a large portion of team coloring (a la waders) but it only covers the collar and butt a bit, and it adds far more team coloring than it removes.
