I know what you're talking about. I tried various death sound mods and even tested my mods too. Project Zomboid currently doesn't support the death sounds to be changed currently. I opened a tech support ticket on their discord and learned from them.
When I'll be back from vacation in a few days, I'll make a mod that disables the combat music completely.

I don't know why exactly, but when you die, the usual combat music in the game continues to play, and in parallel, this one from left 4 dead

Currently i'm still working on making various L4D2 sound mods, after that i'll switch to L4D1 and do the same.

I like both l4d1 and 2, but 1 will always secretly be my favorite

Left 4 Dead 1/2 ost is so great that i can't stop implementing them to Project Zomboid!
