i can't put in words how much i enjoyed this mod from beginning to end. i faced no troubles at all. i loved every minute of it. i don't know if there will be a chapter 2 but i sure hope so as this mod felt like an actual DLC. it was absolutely wonderful! thank you for creating and sharing this.

I can't get pass the first 30sec of gameplay as it bugs when I open the notes and closes it self.

This mod literally transported me into what felt like the next installment in the Penumbra series. The story—about two hours long in my playthrough—captured everything I loved about the original games. It featured puzzles that felt as though they were crafted by Frictional Games themselves: thoughtful, immersive, and flawlessly executed.

What truly stood out was the narrative. Experiencing the perspective of Red and what he might have endured before the events of the original game was gripping. The writing made it feel like this could be canon. The map design was seamless, perfectly reflecting what you'd expect the facility to look like. Voice acting was top-tier—I genuinely forgot I was playing within the SOMA engine.

A masterclass in design, storytelling, visuals, and audio. If I could hand you all an award, I absolutely would.

Amazing mod, feels like Penumbra and SOMA combination. I love both of those games so I also adore this thing. I really appreciate that the technical state is a lot better than Necrolouge and Twilight of the Archaic - there are no crashes or graphical glitches. The one thing I didn't like was very slow pacing. It felt like ages before the first actual enemy encounter. The build-up with all those scary sounds was really good and the tension got me many times but I still think it would be better with bigger enemy density. I'm also kinda sad that Red has no voice because I really liked his VA in the demo. Everything else is literally perfect. I loved the puzzles, the visuals, the level design, the story and the new enemy is really scary and has awesome design. I hope the next chapter will come out someday and that it will be tied to the story of the demo. Thank you CounterCurrent Games for making this masterpiece and your previous works.

I don't know if you guys read these comments, but in case you do, I just wanted say that you guys are AWESOME! I've just recently played through all your mods (Necrologue, Twilight of the Archaic, and now this one) and I just wanted to tell you guys that I had an absolute blast! The quality of your trilogy of mods is on par with (if not better than) the original trilogy of official games. You captured the aesthetic and atmosphere of the originals perfectly, while also adding your own unique touch in terms of gameplay, story, and scares. It's hard for me to even consider these mods considering how long they are and the amount effort/custom content that was put into them; they're practically standalone games! If ever y'all decide to accept donations, let me know! I'd pay good money to help you guys continue your videogame-making passion! Keep up the great work!

Best atmosphere out of ANY HPL mods

Thank you CounterCurrent Games for giving us another amazing, professional quality Penumbra game in 2023...not to mention, the most visually spectacular Penumbra yet made! Absolutely loved this, it was so immersive and thoughtfully designed. I'm very hungry for more, can't wait for Ch2! Also, unless these sections get reused in Ch2, I think it's extra notable that the old Prisoner of Fate Demo from 2018 still stands as a completely separate experience than this. Fantastic work as always, CounterCurrent!

How the hell do I unlock the door, the inventory sheet makes no sense

Am I missing something? I am well over halfway through the game on a one level floor that requires burning a barrel of flammables to trigger the fire suppression and open the locked room in order to advance. I can light the barrel but cannot trigger the alarm, no matter where I position the burning barrel. Anybody?

Great mod so far! But one complaint: I don't think having the door code match the number of items in stock on the inventory sheet makes any sense. I wish this puzzle was either done a little differently to be logical, or include some more clues to help guide the player as to what to do. I was scratching my head at this for over an hour and eventually had to ask someone who completed the game for help

You launch the game from steam and it will ask if you want to launch the game or play mods. If it doesn't, you can find the mod launcher exe in the SOMA game root folder.

How do I access it in game after installing from workshop?

Turning on the generator doesn't make much sense. Whatever the sequence is to flipping the switches isn't intuitive. What is the sequence?

Looking good, sadly I had a problem right at the start. At the first autosave after breaking the wall, my computer was stuck on an infinite loading cycle (I waited aroudn 15 minutes), completely maxed out my CPU usage, and freeze my computer to a state where I had to manually restart it. Twice, exactly the same both times.

No other mod on this engine produced me this error (I recently played other SOMA and Bunker mods), and the hpl log indicates nothing but that the autosave is started and "Got Focus". I will try the non steam version from moddb and see if that's any different, otherwise I might have to wait for an update :/

EDIT: I've seen from the first moddb comment that it's only the first autosave that produces the problem, and lowering the graphics can help. Hopefully the issue gets sorted out, I will try the same as suggested there.
