i would avoid using wood plank textures with nails. it always looks weird on a weapon. still it does a good job of hiding that and it doesn't completely ruin the warpaint.

he can't really help that much where the wood goes as valve didn't integrate any warpaint formatting as neat as such. for what it is i think its great.

I like brass/gold but wood dont look on a lot of weapons. What I would do is change the purple wood into like a metal-ish purple texture or even just a desaturated solid color (with some brush strokes ofc to give it some detail). You can keep the gray wood but maybe limit it to just the weapons grips, handles, stocks, etc.
