oh my god. someone actually found a fix. i thought this was just unfixable source jank, i didnt know it was actually fixable. the amount of time i've spent on those rp_sectorc/rp_bmrf maps where the moment you look a certain direction the signs become deepfried is finally over

Most def a shader issue of some kind with how it interacts with a texture.

Applying Edge Glow Tool to any physics prop also fixed the issue, weirdly. Not sure what's the correlation between the deep frying and the edge glow feature.

What's weird about this issue for me:

The lights are deepfried for me, but if I hold "C" for the context menu and hover over a prop or anything that produces a halo, they are normal. Once I stop, they are deepfried again....I have no idea why.

Yeah i also dont know what was up with these for years, and its very inconsistent, i assumed it was something with the texture itself, and how it interacts with the HDR shader

If you mean branch, it fixes itself in the 64 bit branch.
