I blocked the holes with the barrels to give myself a little more breathing room, and used the barrels to also block the hallway leading to the bunkroom. I even used a barrel to block the bunk room door just in case the beast tried barging in.
This was a short and sweet custom map and I really admire the effort you put into it. Wonderfully done. Leaving the huge mass of barrels as a multi-use resource was a nice touch and once someone realizes what they're usable for it comes across as a great way to challenge someone to use the options at their disposal.
Could make for a interesting way to have the monster attack you in the vent...but otherwise its probably a good idea to not put Monster Holes in a area where a vent passage would be "Behind it"
Good start, hope to see more from you!
In terms of feedback there's 2 things you could improve for a future project, if you wish to continue:
1. Add more alternative paths/corridors and sight blockers. This encourages the player to juke and interact with the enemy instead of waiting out his patrol.
2. It's unlikely to happen, but if you have no ammo, you're sort of soft locked for the ending since the monster will block the only path you can take to escape. The story has to be beatable with your inventory empty bar story items like keys or bolt cutters. I didn't try but what happens if you miss the padlock in the beginning? I assume you also get soft locked. In the main game, the padlock at the start can be smashed with a brick instead of shooting it so even if you have no ammo you can progress.
