This living entity of unknown origin was originally mistaken with the unicellular earth creature known as blob as they share the same color and spread pattern. However further testing revealed that the blight has some unique properties. Like the blob it consumes nearby materials, but under certain stimulus, it is able to convert material into more blight! And in extreme conditions some high rate cloning of the blight have been observed.
About phasing through the world I think I see what you mean, I tried my best to try and prevent that sort of behavior but it seems some of the issue still appear randomly sometimes and I couldn't figure out where this came from :/
just spikes that start as just a lone voxel but then layer onto themselves and start growing, pushing against stuff and either stopping or continuing their growth punching holes through the ceilings and walls occasionally branching off from eachother into new spikes
soon enough the room is choked in thousands of spikes (and your pc starts emitting smoke from the strain of growing all of this bootleg bamboo presumably)
basically self replicating smoke (aka recolored fire extinguisher fumes) that slowly erodes anything it touches, a plague that is mobile but doesn't actively seek more stuff to destroy would be neat since the fire extinguisher smoke has this really cool liquid-like movement
idk i just got this idea playing with fire extinguishers and watching how the gas from em act
