That's how the script identifies the correct block
To simplify the outer panels detect the light direction and the main front facing panels just collect energy
Detector panels are placed perpendicular to the main collector solar panels (top, bottom and side) for each rotor. These panels detect the light rather than an object to track, and will aim to balance the level of light detected to achieve left = right and top = bottom
When top and bottom are equal they are tracked correctly in the vertical position, and if left and right detectors are equal the horizontal position tracked correctly

I usually use buildvision to rename my solar panels, but you can do the following:
Add a control panel to one the side you are renaming and you will have to adjust the naming from the control menu
