That mod seems to have more issues than just the asset selectors not working correctly and would require significantly more effort to fix which someone else has already done elsewhere.
I'd suggest using SE - Restyled and their submods instead if you want to use the Humanoid Hives DLC.
This mod is only supposed to fix the 'required mod' on the right: The original SE - Humanoid.
I'm not sure what you mean? This doesn't add anything on it's own, it merely fixes a file used in SE - Humanoid (Required Item on the right side of the page).
There is a newer version of SE - Human than the one you're using here:

It has a patch which fixes the missing hair already, here:

No big deal if you can't/don't want to, the SE collection isn't a need to have. Thank you for this sub mod though as it does help a lot.
The human one is from one of the other SE mods depending on which one you have. I can probably make a patch for it if you tell me which SE mods you have loaded and in what order.
Someone else may have done so already tho so I'd have a look around the workshop first.
I just tested it again, it still works fine. If it says they have attachment 1/1 then that means they only have one attachment (their default one). If it says 1/0 then it's broken and not seeing the attachment files correctly. Either value would make it be grayed out however.
Which portrait is having problems? If it's the human-looking one that is not from SE - Humanoid, the humans are the other SE mod and would need their own patch if they're broken as well.
If it is one of the SE Humanoids ones (it will have the extra uniform options), not all of them have extra head options.
