Guys, the starting position thing is just a fact with custom maps. The author has already provided a workaround: switch to multiplayer, change your slot, and switch back.

guys, start position is marked for each player. so if you want to start elsewhere with a new campaign, then you need to set yourself as player 1-10, not just 1.

Starting areas can't be randomized, but you can switch to multiplayer mode, change your starting slot and switch back to single player to start in a different position.
