That's pretty dope. I remember seeing builds that would loop a beam and then remove the emitter while the beam still existed, or prime a loop with another ship. It would be challenging and fun to try to do that with this mod, but it actually has a purpose other than looking cool.

If you use modded ion prisms that generate extra ion power (I've seen some that does like +25% per beam rather than -25%, for example), yes you can have infinite power by supplying beam emitters with siphons.
At that point, it's your decision. I'm not going to tell you what you are and aren't allowed to do in the game.

If I use a mod that gives better Ion Prisms, could I power a ship entirely off of THE BEAM?

Explosion effect strength is now capped at 100x. For reference, that's about the same explosion strength as the output prism of a 256-beam setup (with optimal merging) getting blown up.

I guess it is too high explosion that leads to numerical overflow.

Sorry my man, but this mod seems to be crashing again. I took a look at it in VScode, but couldn't make heads or tails of what this issue was.

With a change to the receiver capacity, I think this mod should be core game, if that helps motivate you! Thank you!

unfortunately as soon as I built it I got System.InvalidOperationException: No component named 'IonEnergy' in part 'syy1125.ion_beam_receiver'.

@syy1125: Thanks for your input. My efficiency-focused brain didn't even consider something like a novelty mod that exists just for the hell of it. I may have no use for it, but I do hope you'll find tons of more creative players than I out there for your content :-).

@Sumatris yeah there was some similar discussion in the discord thread as well. IMO it's not "use OP thing from OP mod to minmax the fleet" and more of a "here's something interesting you can do, have fun making whacky designs".

@peeperonic that's a vanilla mechanic and there's not much I can do about it, unfortunately.

this allows me for other ships to supply a larger ship that has no reactors because you couldent afford a reactor for it . i realy like the design. but i noticed the ion lasers dosent penerate the ships shields :/

Sumatris, it’s because you are able to transmit energy to a section of ship without a reactor that can be blown up, or it can act as a backup power source on a ship with no reactors left. Looks really cool

I don't get the point of this. Why would I want to draw batteries from a part I had to power up with batteries before, and with suboptimal efficiency at that?
