I've seem many mentionings and combat footage/pictures from ARVN Airborne cooperating with the ARVN 1st Armoured Regiment with them riding on tanks mainly in the later campaigns of the ARVN.

@Frosted Vert: I recommend:
- Brigham's ARVN: Life and death in the South Vietnamese Army (2017)
- Worthington's Under Fire with ARVN Infantry (2018)
- Wiest's Vietnam's Forgotten Army (2008)

For your operational employment question, the Airborne were (when not conducting coups themselves lmao) held as a general reserve and employed as airmobile infantry or trucked to the battle area, likewise with the Marines when not operating from riverine craft. My understanding of their operations is that they largely did the same kind of presence patrolling and search and destroy that everybody else was doing when not engaged in main force battle with formed PAVN elements.

Frosted Vert - I'm not an expert but I think airborne were used like a firefighting force for troublesome spots at short notice. Perhaps like Mike Force units. I don't think they did any combat drops though. As I say, I'm clutching at straws here......

khangcubu123 - will check out the Phantom Phixers mod when I next get a chance.

AK - you are clearly a scholar. Plenty of interesting reads for me to look out for there.

Question, because ARVN reference books are thin on the ground:

The Airborne and Marines were held in reserve around the Saigon area for most of the conflict? What would a typical operation be like?

i have a suggestion
how about next update you adding Phantom Phixer uniform for Airborne division or BDQ Camo
Lot of camo and good helmet from them

I have no idea, I haven't watched that: but Google says yes, he was part of that. His book is excellent. Another superb work but not a participant memoir is US Special Forces and Counterinsurgency in Vietnam, by Christopher K. Ives, which also really centers the population-centric operations and contextualises them both historically and in terms of their relation to (and being a source of) doctrine.

Thanks man, I'll definitely check those out. Was Stuart Herrington featured in the Ken Burns documentary 'The Vietnam War'? The name rings a bell.

Excellent, @TomButler80, I didn't know about this work. You would enjoy of course Bing West's "The Village" and Stuart Herrington's "Stalking the Viet Cong", the latter of which is the best look at the Phoenix Program as it was intended to run that I have yet found.

Thanks for the kind words. As for the Ruff Puffs I was inspired by the book 'Once a Warrior King' by David Donovan which chronicles his time as an advisor to a hamlet militia in the Mekong Delta. https://amzn.eu/d/3lF81QT

Inclusion of the Ruff Puffs shows an admirable attention to detail, familiarity with the source material, and consideration: bravo zulu on all this man, good work.
